I run as fast as I possibly can into the house. I nearly step on Oscar and scoop the tiny puppy into my arms on the way by. My tangled hair disappears into my bedroom just as Kyle walks into the house. I set Oscar on my bed and grab a purple T-shirt with hoof prints across the front that lead to a horse in the back. Then I yank off my PJs and pull on the shirt and a pair of shorts. I slide my feet back into my boots and brush out my hair.
"Marie?" Kyle calls from the kitchen.
"Hold on a second!" I shout back.
I quickly pull my hair into a ponytail that reaches the middle of my back before grabbing my backpack. Skipping two stairs at a time, I run into the kitchen and out the door. Kyle follows me out and we both get into the truck just as both our phones go off.
Typing in my passcoad, I go the the Email icon. An e-mail from the school pops up and I open it. Reading through the e-mail my frustration grows.
"Seriously?!" I nearly shout.
I climb out of the truck and throw my backpack into the house. No school today. Beyond pissed off, I jog to the barn to go get Spartan. Once he's in the crossties, I give him a quick grooming before throwing a bareback pad onto his back. He takes the bit into his mouth and I fasten the bridle to his head before grabbing the small mounting block.
He starts out if the barn at a brisk trot and I nearly run over Kyle as he walks into the barn. I sigh in frustration as I realize that I forgot my helmet. Turning Spartan around, Kyle come out on his horse, Carrot. He stopps next to me and hands me my helmet.
"Has anyone ever told you that you are the best person ever?" I say, a playful smile playing on my lips.
"I think I've heard that once or twice." he jokes back.
Hey guys. sorry for the long wait and the short chapter but I just got back from Camp last night so I just added to the chapter because I had most of it written. I'm so sad that this book is almost over. :,( Maybe I will do a spin off of this series in Tyler's POV and Kyles POV. I'm not sure yet. I do know that once this book is over I will do ALOT of editing in the books.
