Phoenix is soon good as new. I turn to doctor Rhoades and smile. Her black hair is pulled into a ponytail and her green eyes sparkle.
"Thanks Dr. Rhoades." I hug her.
"Please Marie. I'm technically your aunt and I've told you before, even when I'm on duty, please call me aunt Bailey or just Bailey." she laughs.
"Sure thing aunt Bailey." I mock salute her.
She laughs and shakes her head as we walk out of the barn. I give her another hug before she climbs into her truck and drives down the road. Two hands cover my eyes and someone whispers 'guess who' in my ear. I release a breath I didn't know I was holding and playfully slap Kyle on the chest.
"You scared the crap out of me!" I exclame and he laughs harder. "Its not funny!" I pout.
"Yes it it!" he says.
I roll my eyes, letting out a sigh and walk into the barn to clean up the wash room. I hear Kyle following me and I turn and run into his arms. He falls backwards and lands on the ground.
"I'm so sorry, I wasn't try-" I was cut off by him smashing his lips on mine in a way that told me, 'shut up and kiss me already.'
I kiss him back before we hear a pair of boots walking towards us. We quickly stand up and split apart. He runs to the feed bins while I go to the tack room and pretend to polish a saddle.
Suddenly I see a sight that makes my heart stop and my blood run cold.
"Dad?" I squeak.
