Star sat in math class, bored out of her mind. She couldn't stand watching Ms. Skullnick blabber about algebra anymore. She looked next to Janna to see what she was doing.
"Hey Janna, Star whispered. Whatcha doing?"
"Oh just playing a game," she replied not taking her eyes off her phone.
"What game you playing?"
"It's called Flappy Bird."
"Ohh can I play too?"
This time Janna looked up from her phone. "Sure." She handed Star her phone.
"So how do you play?"
"You just tap the screen and the bird flies. Don't touch the pipes or you'll die. The goal is to get the highest score."
"Oooo sounds fun!"
She played for 5 minutes then gave Janna back her phone. She sighed.
"Hey Janna?"
"Yeah?"
"Why do I feel like something is wrong?"
"Well I dunno. What's been on your mind?"
"It's just, Marco has been talking to Jackie a lot and he hasn't even talked to me."
"Hmm, sounds like you're jealous."
Star blushed. "No I'm not! I just feel left out. He doesn't even hang out with me anymore. He hangs with her more. Jackie this, Jackie that. I'm tired of hearing her name!" She yelled out in frustration, slamming her head on her desk.
Janna put her hand on her back. "I know you're feeling sad about that but it gets better. If you want, me and you can start hanging out."
Star lifted her head up to look at Janna. "Thanks Janna, that would be fun." She got up and hugged Janna in her seat.
"So 5 'o'clock at my place?"
Star nodded. "Okay!"
The bell rang and everyone got up. Usually Star would walk with Marco but since he's dating Jackie, he walked with her instead. Star didn't care. Besides, she had Janna to walk with.
She waited by the door for Janna and the two ran off laughing. They raced out the front doors and ran home.
