( so this is an AU where Star is a normal human with Anxiety. She experiences attacks on a daily basis and nothing seems to help. When she meets Marco aka. new kid, her world turns upside down).
Another day, another horrible worthless day. For Star Butterfly, her days just don't seem to be the best. Every day is a battle when you have anxiety. Today was Friday, which meant the last day of school for the weekend. Star was walking to her class when a girl stopped in front of her.
"Where do you think you're going?"
The girl was Jackie. Jackie Lynn Thomas. She was the school bully and no one picked a fight with her. Because they knew what would happen if they did.
"I-I'm just thing to get to class please let me-"
"Not so fast Butterfly." She pinned Star to a locker and eyed her.
"I want you to do me a favor." She pinned her harder causing her to wince at the pain.
"I want you to say it."
"S-say what?"
"I think you know what." She rolled up her sleeves revealing scars.
"Let everyone know what a suicidal freak you are!"
As the bell rang, everyone came out their classes to find Star pinned by Jackie. They all stopped to watch.
"Go ahead. Show everyone how worthless you are!"
Star cried. Not just at the pain and embarrassment that was being caused, but by her anxiety taking control over her. She was about to have an attack.
"Say it! Now!"
She didn't have a choice. It was either she said it and run away or worse, get beaten up.
"I-I'm a...freak! There I said it now leave me alone!" She screamed. Jackie smirked pushing her to the ground.
"What a loser." She left leaving Star on the ground crying. Everyone had seen what just happened. They all whispered to each other before going back to their classes.
Star got up and looked at her arm. It was bleeding from when Jackie gripped her arms opening the scars. She couldn't go to the nurse so she went back to her class. She knew everyone would stare at her but she had to go. So what if they did? It happens everyday. She walked in her science class. All eyes were on her as she made her way to her seat. Her face grew hot from the embarrassment. All she wanted was this day to end.
Minutes passed then the bell rang. Everyone got up and raced out the doors. The school emptied quickly. Everyone went home except for Star. She had to wait for her mom to pick her up which is around 9:00. She sat down on the stairs and waited.
She heard footsteps from behind her. She turned around to see a boy in a red hoodie. He jumped when he saw her.
"Are you ok?" He asked.
"I-I'm fine."
He took a seat next to her. "I saw you here and I wanted to keep you company."
"Oh okay."
"I'm Marco." He reached out a hand to her.
"I'm Star."
"That's a pretty name!"
She smiled. For the first time she actually smiled.
"Yeah heh, my mom picked it out."
"That's cool. I guess my parents just thought of mine together."
There were so many questions going through her head. Why was this kid talking to her? No one ever talks to her. She was all alone.
"Are you ok from what happened today? I saw what happened and I feel so bad for you."
"Oh I'm ok. I was just panicking a bit."
"Is it true that you have... anxiety?" His words were quiet. His expression was soft but yet he was curious.
"Yeah. It's a pain to experience. I hate it so much, I wish I could just get rid of it somehow but I can't. Every day is a struggle. I barely even make it through the day having to have people call you names, being bullied and cutting yourself because you know you're not worth it. I just feel like dying already." She teared up just thinking about what Jackie did to her. All her scars were because of her. "I have nobody to help me. My parents have tried but nothing works. I can't keep putting so much pain on them. They don't deserve it to take care of my mess. I should just die. They won't have to worry about me anymore."
"Don't say that. Your parents love you. They'd miss the crap out of you if you were gone."
She shook her head. "They don't love me. No one loves me." Then it happened. Her anxiety filled her head as she started to cry once more. She started breathing faster. She covered her ears to keep herself from hearing the voices in her head scream at her. How worthless she is, how ugly and pitty she was. How she needed to die because no one wanted her.
She started to scream. She thought it was the end for her. Nothing could help.
Then she felt hands grab her waist. It was that same boy again, Marco. He wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her gently to his chest. He patted her back whispering in her ear.
"It's ok it's ok. Don't be scared I know you're hurting right now but you'll be ok. As long as I have you, you don't have to worry about anything."
She calmed down a bit. His words soothed her some as she began to stop crying. She did feel safe in his arms. She felt protected but she barely knew him. But some how she felt like she didn't have to know him to be safe with him.
"You ok?" He whispered quietly.
"Y-yes. Can you please hold me a bit longer?"
"I'll hold you as long as you want."
They sat there hugging until her attack stopped. She looked at Marco.
"Why did you do that?"
"Because I care about you. I may not know you a whole lot but I know you need someone."
"Thanks. I feel better now."
He smiled. He grabbed her hand and placed it on his lap.
"Do you want me to wait for your parents with you?"
She nodded. "Yeah I don't wanna wait alone."
He nodded still holding her hand, never letting go knowing it's what made her feel better. He could do this all day, even if it meant he had to do it everyday.
"Don't worry it gets better."
