Jackie was at her house. Her parents were out of town for the week so she had the place all to herself. To keep her company, she invited Star over to hang out. She heard a knock on the door and opened it.
"Hey Star."
"Hey Jackie!" She leaped forward and hugged her.
"So what are we doing today?"
"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to go to the park with me?"
"Hmm, ok sounds fun!"
The girls walked to the park since with was only 5 minutes away.
"It's sooo hot out here!" Star grabbed two rubber bands from her pocket and tied her hair in a ponytail. She handed one to Jackie.
"I don't put my hair up."
Star cocked her head to the side. "Really? Why?"
"I don't like my hair up. The last time I've worn my hair up was when I was 4. I only had it up for a class photo."
"I've never seen your hair in a ponytail though." Star whined.
"Ok fine." Jackie sighed. "But just this once.
She grabbed the rubber band from Star, slowly, she tied her hair high above her head. It flowed in the wind barely reaching her neck. Star stared at her, mouth open in awe.
"You l-look so pretty." She mumbled
Jackie blushed. "Oh uh, thanks."
The two found themselves blushing at their own words. Star smiled and grabbed Jackie's hand.
"Come on, let's go walking!"
"Ok!"
The two walked side by side down a sidewalk chatting away. This was a great time to get rid of the tension between the two after Marco broke up with Jackie. Star knew it would help to get along and she did just that.
It was sunset, the two sat on a hill above a lake. Star lay back on the grass. Jackie did the same.
"Ahh, this feels so relaxing." Star said sighing. She looked at Jackie who too was laying down.
"Yeah it does."
Star spoke. "So, dies this mean we're friends?"
Jackie bursted out laughing. "What do you mean?"
Star looked down. "Well, I thought you didn't like me after you know, after I admitted to Marco on having a crush on him." Her words sounded hurt, like as if she did something bad.
Jackie looked down. "Umm, no that's not partially true. I was just confused. I didn't know if Marco liked me or you. I didn't want him to be miserable with me knowing he loves you. I did what I had to do, and that was to break up with him and let him be with you. As long as he's happy with you, I'm happy too."
Star looked deep into her eyes. Jackie sincerely cared about hers and Marco's relationship. She did the only thing she had to do. She hugged Jackie and cried.
"Thank you." Was all she managed to let out.
Jackie cried into Star's shoulder.
"You're welcome."
