Jesse had gone off for an important boxing match a couple of hours ago leaving me bored to death. When I told him I wanted to come, he looked at me like I had confessed to being an offspring of Stalin before shaking his head no. He said it was too dangerous and no amount of whining would changed his mind.So I made a cup of tea and flipped through channels instead, settling on an old horror movie.
The effects were so horrible, I was giggling halfway through when I suddenly felt nauseous.
"Stop moving! If mom hears us leaving the house at this time we're done!" She hissed from the other side of the window.
"Come on, one leg at a time, slowly!" She hushed as I carefully joined her outside the window.
"Okay now when I count to three, jump. One, two-" she nervously counted off.
"Three!" I quietly squeal, jumping into the bushes and tugging her behind me.
"Are you crazy!" She snapped brushing leaves out of her hair.
"Maybe." I giggle as we take off with a group of people waiting for us just a few feet away.
"Come on Claire!" I enthusiastically wave at her as I jump onto a motor scooter behind someone.
She rolls her eyes and hops onto one beside me, a small smile on her ruby painted lips.
"We're so dead." She giggled finally as we drove off towards a tower of twinkling lights.
"Sam?" Jesse called, the door closing behind him.
"In here." I softly reply feeling a little dizzy.
He was rambling about something but stopped mid sentence when he saw my face.
"What happened? Are you alright?" Jesse frowned quickly putting a hand on my forehead.
"You're heating up." He mumbled worriedly. I waved him off and tried to stand up.
"I'm fine. I'm just a little tired." I said and took a step but felt the room spin again. Jesse held my arms so I wouldn't fall and was looking down at me in disapprovingly.
"Did you eat something bad?" He scooped me up and took me to the bathroom, placing me on the toilet as he started a bath.
"No." I mumbled putting my head in my hands. Jesse disappeared and came back moments later with a bathrobe and a towel.
"It helps. Trust me." He gave a small smile nodding at the warm bath waiting for me. I started stripping out of my clothes and Jesse stood there with a surprised look on his face.
"What? You act like you've never seen me in my underwear before." I scoff at him. He started blinking several times before clearing his throat.
"Right. Uhh here. I'll make you a cup of mint tea for your stomach." He mumbled and shuffled out quickly. I folded my clothes and put them on top of the sink with a small smile at Jesse's sudden shyness.
I hummed happily as I stepped inside the tub, disappearing under a coat of bubbles and closed my eyes, slowly beginning to drift off.
"Madams." A man in a suit and thin mustache bowed slightly before opening the door to the limo for us.
"We're so dead." Claire muttered dragging herself into the car with me behind her.
"What do you think they'll do?" I quietly ask as the car started taking us back home.
"They're already sending me back to boarding school in Austria. I heard them talking about it last night." Claire picked at the charms on her bracelet.
"What about me? Daddy wouldn't....he wouldn't let her send me away, would he?" I ask feeling my throat close up.
"What's that supposed to mean? Just because you're his "favorite" doesn't mean-" she angrily started before I cut her off.
"I didn't mean it like that Claire." I look at her apologetically.
"Whatever. It's already done. I'm going back to finish my last year at the academy and you're probably coming with me, unless mother decides to send you to Vienna instead." She scoffed.
I silently look out the car window tracing the outline of a raindrop, my throat feeling dry while a heavy feeling began to suffocate me.
I opened my eyes, a single tear escaping one eye. Wiping my face, I got out and wrapped my hair with the towel Jesse had given me and was tying the knot in my bathrobe as I walked out to find Jesse pouring me the cup of tea he had promised.
"Feel better?" He asked.
"Yes actually." I smiled as I thanked him and sat on the couch.
"You sure it wasn't something you ate? You look a little better now." He said touching my head again. I nodded and took a sip, the mint soothing my stomach.
"Did you throw up? Cause if you did then it definitely was something you ate. Did it start this morning or after I left." He continued to ask, his brows looking as if they were glued together from staying bunched up for so long.
"I have something to tell you." I said quietly putting the cup down. Jesse frowned worriedly and waited.
"I'm pregnant."
The color drained from his face and I had to stifle my giggle as he started to mumble incoherently.
"B...but how? I thought you were a virgin?" He asked, shock written all over his face.
"I'm the next Virgin Mary." I said flatly and Jesse stared at me for a couple of seconds before scowling when I couldn't hide my smile.
"Not funny Sam." He growled turning away from me.
"It was for me." I giggled making him scowl even more.
"Shut up and drink your tea." He grumbled. I leaned over and gave him a quick peck on the cheek making him turn in surprise.
"Thank you, for everything." I said.
"It's just tea Sam." He tried to laugh it off but I smiled and leaned closer into him, making him adjust his position so that I would be more comfortable.
"Get some rest." I heard him say before he started playing with my hair. He knew I loved it when he did that so I sighed happily and before I knew it, I had drifted off.
