A friendship you have asked for,

A friendship I will give.

You've asked me for a great feat,
One where I must forgive.
It's a lot to deal with, since my heart and pride were shattered,
I can't even put into words, how my confidence has been battered.

I thought before I'd felt sorrow, of first love's anguish and pain,
But nothing compares to the mature realisation that could make you go insane.
Hearing words you'd never thought possible because you trusted so ultimately,
To then question how you can be the cause of these words, told to you so bluntly.

I'll remember that moment until the end of my days,
I'll remember it even as my memories fade.
No pain cuts deeper, no physical scar can measure up,
To the one slashed into my heart.

Never to be replaced, it will sit there filling with blood,
An easy but sorry replacement, for the love that once filled that cut.
