Later that day is when David made his announcement to the whole town. "With the two newcomers, Ellie and Tucker, we have new information. It seems they have heard of a cure, somewhere in new Braunfels, the specific location no one knows."

Immediate chatter started and David hushed them up. "I say we start looking tomorrow, the sooner the better," his voice got more and more energetic as he spoke, "who's with me?!" A cheer went through the crowd and several fists pumped through the air.

Slowly and then all at once people were rushing over to Tucker and I, who had stood at the back up until this point, and hugging us. Tears splashed on my shoulders and all the while I stood there awkwardly trying to be nice.

"Gracias mijah," an old Hispanic lady whispered in my ear as she pulled away.

"I say everyone should go home and get some rest, because tomorrow I'm sending out every able body with guns blazing to find this cure," David yelled out.

Already people started ushering their kids away and to their house.

Tucker and I stayed outside for a little longer talking to people and telling them our story, everyone wanted to know how we had found out about the cure.

Before the last person went home for the night, a pretty red head, she turned to us and smiled, "y'all make a cute couple," and then walked away.

Tucker glanced at me smiling and I could feel my cheeks heating up. "Do you hear that Ellie? We make a cute couple," Tucker grinned and held my hand as we started walking back to our house, and surprisingly, even to myself, I didn't pull away. I had missed his touch.

We didn't speak as we walked back to our house and when we finally did get there we kissed on the doorstep, like back in the old days when people went out on dates and would kiss on the girls doorstep before saying goodnight.

But we didn't just stop at the doorstep.

I opened my eyes to Tucker beside me, he was still sleeping and for once he looked... Peaceful. Leo happily ran around the bed, taking a few seconds to lick our faces and then running away again.

Last night had been, exhilarating. Seriously the best night of my life. We were going to find the cure and make this world...normal. Or as close to it as we possibly could, I mean it's gonna be pretty hard to recover from this, but I had faith now.

But because of us making this a new world and stuff, I could have feelings! And ohhh, I had truly been missing out.

"Ellie, are you awake?" Tucker asked, rolling over to face me. I smiled at him and kissed him, teasing him a little bit before hopping out of bed.

He groaned, "stay in bed a little bit longer?" He pleaded.

"No can do, have you forgotten what today is?"

Finally his grogginess cleared up in like 2.5 seconds and his eyes went wide. "We're going to find the cure today." I nodded.

We showered, together, and got dressed. I made sure to feed Leo with a bag of food someone had given us last night, they had noticed our cute little pup when we had arrived.

The center of town was already crawling with people when we got there, everyone in town had showed up. David stood in front of the crowd about to say something.

"Everyone who is able, go to the armory to pick up your weapons, then meet by the north gate. Tucker and I had no idea what he was talking about but we followed the crowd and came to a small building that someone had spray painted armory on the front of.

It was filled with all sorts of weapons, I grabbed a handgun that I slipped in the back of my jeans, a knife in my waistband and I held a rifle.

Every body grabbed their chosen weapons and again we followed the crowd to the north gate. The gate we followed them too ended up being the place that Tucker and I came in through.

David stood in front of it speaking to everyone. "Groups of four, look everywhere, we don't know where this freak hid it. And at the end of the day report back here. I know this isn't very organized but it's all I've got."

I held on to Tucker and a few minutes later another couple walked up to us. They were older, in their 30's maybe but looked nice.

"I'm Ed and this is Sarah," the man introduced themselves. We both introduced ourselves but it was pointless because everyone already knew who we were.

"Come on you guys," Sarah waved us through the now open gate and into a nearby parking lot where everyone else was standing around. Cars filled all the spaces and everyone was picking one and hopping in.

"Good enough," Ed said pointing to a red jeep that was off to the side. "Who wants to drive?"

No one spoke up and Ed finally got into the drivers seat himself. We all piled in after him.

"They keep a bunch of working cars around, you know, just in case," Sarah explained. She seemed all jittery and excited, everyone did actually.

We followed the caravan of cars and about 25 minutes later arrived to the small town of New Braunfels. It was actually really pretty with the gazebo and little shops everywhere but of course now everything was covered in carnage.

"He said he hid it in his house, so I say we start in a neighborhood," I explained.

Ed nodded and drove to a nearby cluster of houses and we started.

Everyone piled out of the car and we all decided our best course of action. I knocked and two zombies came to the front door, I held the door shut and we counted to 3 and I swung it open. Ed, Sarah and Tucker jumped in with knifes and disposed of them in a matter of seconds.

They didn't want to use their guns so we wouldn't attract a horde, even though Sarah and Ed claimed that they had cleared out the streets pretty well. We then all piled into the house and slip up the couples to look through the rooms for anything.

Every house we did that. Me opening the door and them disposing of the dead, I even jumped in every few houses when there were more than 3.

All of a sudden we heard a crackle from the walkie talkie Ed had. "Come back to Wimberly, we found something."
