The days went by quickly. Soon enough, I got my cast taken off and was able to walk with ease.

Halloween came and passed, and now we were gearing up for Thanksgiving. Forks High was different from my other school. We only get a four day weekend vs the week I used to get.

The Cullen's didn't seem to mind though. They were just excited to have an outsider, and a reason to celebrate our silly human customs.

We were dismissed two hours earlier than we would have been on any normal day. Emmett matched my pace as we walked towards his Jeep.

"What do you and your mom normally have for Thanksgiving dinner?" he asked politely.

"Well, actually..." I trailed off.

"Don't tell me." He looked upset.

"Mom always had someone else to spend time with. I loved her, though. I just fended for myself a lot during the holidays." I explained in a rush.

"Well, don't you worry," he chuckled.

As soon as we all returned home, Carlisle and Esme announced they were going to visit their cousins in Denali.

The cousins, from my understanding, also had a permanent residence in Alaska. They lived off of animals as well.

Carlisle explained that they would be back by dinner time on Thanksgiving. The rest of us got into the mood of decorating the house.

Of course, no one could reign in Alice. She absolutely loves fashion and decorating, but it was fun to watch someone so spirited.

Edward brought out the tree and allowed me to put on the ornaments.

"These are beautiful," I remarked.

The ornaments were visibly old, but not in a terrible way. I was almost afraid I would break them.

"We used to collect them," Edward explained.

When I was finished decorating the tree exactly how I had wanted it, Emmett picked me up to put the angel on the top.

"Perfect," I smiled.

Emmett set me down carefully and hugged me. Then, he bent down so his face was level with mine and kissed me slowly. I melted into it, hypnotized by his smell. My hands instantly wore themselves into his hair, tugging lightly. I heard him moan quietly. Then he pulled away, smiling.

"I love you, Clara."

"I love you too." And I smiled again. I was truly happy here, with my new family.

Emmett picked me back up and carried me quickly to my bedroom.

"Time for bed?" I guessed.

"Yes. Time for bed." He kissed my forehead and tucked me in. "Tomorrow's a busy day."

I scooted closer to Emmett and fell asleep easily. I could hear Emmett humming a familiar tune, but I couldn't place it. That night, I dreamt of my mother.

Emmett was definitely right about today. Alice, Rose, and Edward left to go hunting. Emmett had decided to head to the store to buy some last minute item, though he wouldn't tell me what it was.

Jasper stayed back to help me cook tonight's dinner.

"I can't eat all of this," I said.

Jasper laughed. "We have plans for the leftovers." I wondered what he meant but decided not to think to much about it. I was more curious about Emmett at the moment. What could he possibly be getting?
