"Are we there yet?" I asked for what seemed like the hundredth time. I heard Emmett sigh.
"Almost, Clara. This is the turnoff, right here."
If he hadn't pointed it out, I probably wouldn't have noticed. I was giddy with excitement as we pulled up to our new home in Forks.
"Wait right there," Emmett spoke. One minute he was next to me, and the next he was opening my door. "What do you think, love?"
"It's beautiful." That was the only thing I could come up with, though it didn't do this house justice.
Emmett carried me into the house, and up the stairs. I pondered everything that happened due to my little 'accident'.
Emmett said those hurtful things to get back at me for wanting to divorce. He really does love me, and I know that doesn't excuse what he said, but what would I have done if I were him?
Alice had a vision that I was dead at the hands of Allan, though she had no idea who he was or what he wanted with me. They knew he was around, but tried to protect me. They followed my scent to find me.
I haven't been let out of their sight since, not that I could go anywhere with a cast on my leg and crutches to walk on. I was officially crippled. As if I couldn't keep up with them before.
My crutches were waiting for me in the upstairs family room. Emmett set me down right next to them, to allow me to explore this floor of the house. He was afraid I'd fall down the stairs, or something stupid like that.
"But why?" I whined to him.
"Because I almost lost you once, and I do not need to lose you again."
"You're so melodramatic."
"Am I?" He smirked.
"Yes! I'm not going to die from climbing the stairs."
"But what if you fell? And you snapped your neck? It would only be too easy. No."
"Whatever," I replied back. See? Melodramatic! Edward laughed.
"What's so funny?" Emmett asked him.
"Nothing." And with that, he shot off to wherever he decided to go.
"That was weird," I commented. Emmett ignored it as he led me to the kitchen. This was where I found the rest of the Cullen's.
I could see Alice bouncing up and down from where she was standing. "You look excited!" I commented.
"Well, duh! I've been waiting for you two slow pokes to get here! I have to show you your room!" and with that, Alice picked me up.
"I don't like to be manhandled," I whined. I heard the others chuckle quietly as Alice ignored me. I should've known anything I said would be ignored.
Alice carried me up two more flights of stairs, down a hallway, and pushed open the last door on the right. She set me down, carefully, on the bed. I observed the brand new purple bed set that was already put together.
I looked up questioningly. "Did you do this?" I asked.
Alice smiled; looking pleased with herself. "I knew you'd love it! And not just because I can see all," she giggled happily as she wiggled her eyebrows. Her happiness was contagious.
Alice walked over to my closet and I watched as she opened the double doors. "I already put away your clothes." She then pointed at the door next to the one we came through. "You also have your own bathroom."
I looked around my new room, taking it all in. I had all white furniture. My dresser was placed next to the closet and had a flat screen tv on top. On the wall directly opposite my bathroom, were French doors that lead to a balcony. I could already picture myself sitting outside as I read a book.
"I love it!" And I smiled so big.
Alice squealed in delight. "This is so exciting!" And she ran over to me, to hug me. "I'm glad we're sisters Clara!"
I chuckled as I said, "me too."
We both looked up as I heard the knock on my bedroom door. It was Emmett.
"How do you like your room?" He asked me.
"It's amazing!" I smiled at him.
"Good! I brought you something."
He laughed at my expression and pulled out my crutches. "Unless you DON'T want to explore. I mean, we can just leave you here."
"You wouldn't." I glared at him.
"You're so cute," Emmett laughed as he walked over to me. He leaned down to give me a kiss and then helped me stand up. "I thought you might like to look outside... or see the other rooms."
I nodded my head excitedly.
Emmett lead me over to the French doors and opened them. The woods stretched out beyond my bedroom door and the balcony was covered from the rain. A couch was placed in the left corner. I could sit out here forever.
I smiled up at Emmett before making my way to sit down. "I take it the balcony meets your standards, m'lady?"
I nodded again. I would never have dreamed I'd ever live in a house like this.
"So, what do you guys do for fun here?" I asked him.
"Well, we go to school," he chuckled. "Did you see all the graduation caps by the front door? A little joke of ours."
"School?" I asked. I had completely forgotten I was still human, and even living in a house full of vampires, school existed. "But you guys never went.." I trailed off, remember school hadn't yet started. It felt like I lived with them forever, but I realized I hadn't.
"Are you scared?" He asked kindly.
"Maybe a little. I'd never gone to another school other than mine."
Emmett kissed my forehead. "It'll be ok, Clara. I promise. School starts on August 18th, and you've got all of us with you."
"I love you."
"I love you, too. Now let's go find you some dinner."
