In 1958, Pamela Sue Voorhees offed Barry and Claudette in a rage. Her rage, according to this detective, was unnatural; very unnatural...unless she murdered before.

EVIDENTIAL REASONING OF THE RAGE MURDERS OF PAMELA SUE VOORHEES OVER THE SO-CALLED DROWNING OF HER SON, JASON VOORHEES, 1958
Pamela Voorhees was angry because her parents, Harry and Martha Voorhees, both 18, were violent, abusive parents.
Harry grew up in Crystal Lake Mine. The Miners were starting young. Harry bashed into the rocks.
Over the long nights he would come home and hit Pamela. Hard. So hard that her anger fuelled violence-then she used a hammer and broke his skull. The year was 1949. Pamela was 19. She killed her Mom as well.
She took her then 3 year old son, Jason, then headed to Camp Crystal Lake. But, the murders of her parents was the genesis of what was to come.
The religious fervor that was part of the camp about punishment and sins birthed a horrifying sense of righteousness; of good versus evil; of a mystery that was hard to fathom for modern readers.
And, as she killed Barry and Claudette in the barn, it was the end. The fires in 1961; and sabotage by poisoned water in 1962, was a scary postscript to the beginnings of the mystery of Camp Crystal Lake.
