Taehyung—
Shocked as I was, it still relieved me that this was the reason to why Jungkook wasn't going to school. If it was something related to his father or to his family, or anything else like that, I would have no way or idea of how to help him. With money, it's easy. The only problem would be if the younger would ignore my assistance, and at this point I was getting tired of him denying me. I was going to help fix this one problem, at least. This was something that I could succeed at doing, and I wasn't going to just let Jungkook drop school, while I could and still can help him.
I pulled on his arm, and dragged him back outside, to my car. "What have you been doing for a whole week? Where have you been staying? Don't tell me that you slept on the streets," I scolded, dragging and pushing him into my car. "I was staying at a friend's," Jungkook mumbled, slowly, pulling the seatbelt over his chest, and clicking it in. "I came here, because his parents were coming home, and I didn't want to cause any problems."
Sighing, I put on my own seatbelt, and started the car. I pulled out of the parking lot, and sped out onto the barren streets, glad to be getting out the sketchy town. "Don't ever do that again, okay? I was really worried about you. How do you think I felt when you never responded to my texts or calls, and I couldn't find you anywhere all week? Huh? I felt awful, that's how I fucking felt. Don't you dare disappear on me like that ever again, Jeon Jungkook."
It was silent, before the younger mumbled a small, "you worried about me?" I sighed, again, through my nose, and nodded. "Yes. I was very worried. You have no idea how crazy I went, coming up with the worst scenarios about what had happened to you." I honked angrily at a certain car that cut into my lane without warning, causing me to swerve a little. "Piece of shit, driver," I grumbled.
Jungkook startled me with a light chuckle, making me whip my head towards his direction. The sight before me was the sweetest thing I've probably ever seen in my entire life. The younger's eyes were crinkled up in crescents, while his grin made him look like a cute little bunny. Though the moment was short lived, since Jungkook's smile slipped off as quickly as it came, I was glad that I managed to catch it. It motivated me more to continue trying to help the younger. So, I could see that smile again. So, I could see it all the time.
"You never laughed around me, sober, before," I murmured, quietly, bringing my eyes back to the road, as we climbed up onto the highway, back into the city. Jungkook snorted, "that was because you kept bothering me. You know, we could've been friends if you weren't so persistent on 'fixing me.' You're not some fucking therapist, Kim Taehyung." I slumped my shoulders, knowing that he was right, yet I still didn't want to let go of the idea. I was determined.
"I don't care," I stated, clearly. "No matter how much you push me away, I will never go away." Jungkook scoffed, leaning into his seat, and turning his head to look out of the window. "Those who know me on an emotional level always leave, Taehyung. You're no exception. Sure, you've stuck longer than I thought you would, but give it less than a month or two, and you'll be long gone. You won't stay, Kim. I know you won't." (a/n: "I hope you guys like the name staay. 'Cause you know, stay? You know stay? Yeah, stay?"...ahem...ok then...back to the story)
Huffing, I gripped the steering wheel, tightly, not sure on how to convince the younger that I would never leave, despite any situation. "You just have to trust me," I whispered, more to myself than Jungkook, but he heard me, since I saw him turn his head to look at me, in the corner of my eye. "Trust is something that I haven't placed in anybody for years now, Taehyung. What makes you think you're so special?" I didn't answer, due to the fact that I didn't know why I was even bothering with Jeon Jungkook in the first place. I had no idea what my drive was, and I had no idea what my reason was. I had no idea.
We drove in silence, all the way back to the campus and when I parked my car in the garage. "Why did you bring me back?" The black-haired male asked, stepping out of the vehicle. "Just go back to your dorm," I assured the younger, sending him a tight-lipped smile. I didn't want him to know what I was about to do. There was no doubt that he'd probably stop me, if he knew.
I waved my hand at him, gesturing him to get going to his dorm. Jungkook lowered a suspicious eyebrow at me, before shoving his hands into his pockets, and walking out of the garage, to his dorm building. Once, he was out of sight, I sighed, and headed back into my own building, slumping slightly. The moment I stepped inside, I pulled out my phone, quickly dialing my father's number.
After three rings, I was greeted by his familiar voice, wearily answering with a "hello, Tae." I frowned, hoping that I didn't catch him at a bad time. "Are you tired, Father? Should I call you back tomorrow?" I asked, worriedly. The elder man chuckled, lightly, "no, no, I always have time for you, my son. So what's up? Is school all good? Do you have a girlfriend that you need to show to me? Don't tell me that you're dropping out." I giggled at his bombard of questions, feeling my spirits lift. "No, Father. I'm passing all of my classes, and no, I don't have a girlfriend to show to you...actually, I have a friend who's about to get kicked out..."
I let the information sit, for a bit, before diving into what I actually called him for. "Father. That friend of mine is very dear to me. He's going through a very hard time in his life, and he's going to have to drop out of college in three days. Please, Father. Can we pay for his tuition? I'll make sure to have him return the money."
The other line had gone silent, as I spoke, sending my nerves in a fray. I bounced on my toes, pursing my lips, bracing myself for rejection and disappointment.
Finally, my father sighed, and spoke again. "You never change, Taehyung. I see you're still the same considerate person that you always are." I nodded, letting the fact that he couldn't see me, slip my mind. "Taehyung...how much is your friend's tuition?" I chewed on my lip, "I don't know. I just know that I'd do anything to keep him from getting kicked out of school."
"Ah, it's a 'he' now, huh?" Father mused. There was another long pause on the other side of the phone, before he sighed loudly. "What's the kid's name? I'll check him out, and judge whether I'll loan him money or not." I nearly burst into tears, as I thanked my father, repeatedly.
"Thank you!" I cried, holding my phone close to my ear, in both of my hands. Father chuckled, "this Jeon Jungkook must be special to you."
"He is. Like, you have no idea."
"Are you in love with him?"
"I...I don't know..."
"Well, it sure sounds like you are."
