Taehyung thought it was going to be just any other night at his local 7 Eleven as he goes to buy a few drinks and snacks to study for an upcoming test.
Yet, that damn Jeon Jungkook had to go and ruin his life, by trying to steal.

"Don't ever do...
I dragged myself to the cafeteria, wearily, from a very grueling lecture. After coming up empty with getting to know Jungkook better, we'd managed to finish the majority of the project. It irked me, terribly, to have the younger at an arm's length, yet not know anything about him, except for what showed on the surface. At this point I'm going to have to start moving in onto his friends. I had no choice if I wanted to help him.
Jimin plopped into the seat across from mine with a stranger in his hold. I raised an eyebrow at the newcomer. "Who's this Jiminie?" I asked, taking a sip of my soda, from my straw. The elder grinned, and patted the guy's shoulder. "This is Min Yoongi hyung. He just transferred here from a different school." I smiled, trying to not look as tired as I felt.
"Hello, my name is Kim Taehyung, nice to meet you," I said, raising my hand. Yoongi, nodded, silently, reaching over to grasp my hand. "Nice to meet you, too," he responded, quietly. "Not much of a talker, huh?" I stated, lightly. The elder nodded, "I was just raised that way." I nodded, "ah. I see. Then I won't comment on it further. What major are you from?" Yoongi was fair skinned and had a small frame. He was slightly taller than Jimin, yet only by an inch or so. His hair was a fluffy mass of black hair, that didn't seem to fit with his "dark" persona. His overall impression, though, left me intimidated.
"I'm majoring in music. What about you?" The elder tossed the question, as if it was a wad of paper. "Business and economics," I replied. He nodded, then started poking at his lunch. Jimin snorted, "why so stiff, Tae? You're not usually this awkward." I shrugged, "sorry. I'm just tired, is all." Suddenly, there was a sudden hush that fell over the cafeteria, making me look up. Of course the attention stealer was none other than Jeon Jungkook, himself. I huffed, irritated. This time, I didn't bother to go greet him.
I noticed that Yoongi was squinting at the younger male, a small frown on his face. "Is that Jeon Jungkook?" The elder mumbled. I raised my eyebrows, "you know him?" Yoongi nodded, "yeah, we grew up in the same foster home together." I felt my eyes widen. Jungkook grew up in a foster home? Well that would explain why he'd flinched when I called him by his last name and mentioned his family. "Was he abandoned by his family?" I asked, leaning in a little. I could feel the excitement fizzle inside my veins; renewed energy buzzing inside me. Yoongi pulled his lips to the side, in hesitation. "If I tell you this, you didn't hear it from me." Jimin elbowed the elder, playfully, "come on! Spill! I want to know Jeon Jungkook's dark past." Yoongi scoffed, "what? Is he popular here?" I nodded, "girls seem to like the 'bad boy' phase, these days." The elder only rolled his eyes, before talking.
"Alright, well I'll start at the beginning. Jungkook's mother died of cancer, when he was at an early age. After his mother's death, his father changed, getting drunk and angry all of the time. At first his father just verbally abused Jungkook, but it grew into straight up child assault. It even got up to the point where his father even raped him." Jimin gasped, his hands flying over his mouth, while I just stared at Yoongi, in horror. What kind of father would do that to their own child? After a moment, I waved for Yoongi to keep going.
"He met a couple when he was running away, one day, and they reported his father to the police. His father was arrested and put into jail a day after that, thank the lord. But, the couple were too financially unstable to support Jungkook, so he had to be sent to a foster home. That was where I met him. Honest to God, I was the only one there who probably treated him like a regular human being. The kids there were absolutely brutal and terrible. They'd beat him up constantly, and steal whatever little things that he had. I had to share a room with him, and I felt bad, so I befriended him, because I know what it feels like to have no parents to run to, and no love and support to cling on."
Yoongi shook his head, sadly. "I left for college way before him, and haven't seen him since." The elder glanced at the aforementioned, who was brooding at his usual table, listening to his friends chatter. "I guess he hasn't really changed that much," the black-haired male murmured. I banged my fist against the table, loudly, startling those who sat close by. "I swear with all of my being, I am more determined to help him now." Yoongi blinked at me, slowly, "you want to help him?" I nodded, firmly, "there's no way I want to drop this now." Jimin sighed, and laid his chin atop his arms, on the table. "So, that was the reason for all the commotion you caused, earlier. Honestly, Taehyung, this is a bad habit for you."
"I'm still going to help him, anyway."

I ran up to the younger after lunch, and tapped his shoulder. Jungkook turned his head to face me, and immediately scowled. "What do you want?" He asked, stiffly. "I know what happened," I stated, simply. His eyes narrowed, trying to figure out what I'm saying. "I don't care what you do to me, or how much you push me away. I will help you, even if it's the last thing I do." The latter scoffed, "help me with what? I am perfectly fine and able. There is nothing wrong with me." One of Jungkook's friends, Hoseok, called his name, making the younger look up. "Don't approach me, again, unless it's for the project," he warned, starting to walk away. "I can't wait for this stupid assignment to be all over."
Sighing, I shoved my hands into my pockets, as I watched his muscular back get farther and farther away. Someone clapped my shoulder, making me jump in my shoes. "You have spunk, kid. I can appreciate that," Yoongi complimented. "But, I think it's best if you just leave him alone. It's clear that he doesn't want any help." I chewed my lip, furrowing my eyebrows in frustration. "You don't get it hyung. I caught him stealing once, and paid for him. He obviously is dealing with something, and I want to help." The elder just shook his head, "people do things for a reason. Whatever I had just told you might be the base for his demeanor, but there's obviously a different reason to why he's been acting like he is."
With one last pat on the back, Yoongi walked away. "Just forget about him, kid. It's not worth it!"
But, you don't get it...
For some reason, anything is worth it when it comes to Jeon Jungkook.
