a/n—fun fact: this story was infired when I first heard ghost of you by 5sos
A peaceful night of starlight and crickets chirping in the now summer air. The weather was warmer, hot enough to hear the soft humming of the ac filtering through the house.
The wind blew softly, tousling through locks of hair.
Two boys lay on a rooftop, a scene all too familiar, under different circumstances this time.
Jimin listened to the sound of Jungkooks breathing, just that all in itself was fascinating to him.
Jungkook watched the way Jimins hair reached his eyebrows, his fingers twitching to swipe it away.
Nights like these made Jungkook feel almost whole again— late nights of lost stars and hot chocolate to calm the soul.
Late nights with Jimin. It was always Jimin.
He studied Jimin, the side profile of his face always amazed the younger, though it was never voiced out.
He liked the way his eyelashes fluttered against his cheeks when he closed them, or the way his soft lips turned up when he smiled.
Jimin felt like spring.
After a cold and harsh winter, he was the breath of fresh air, a new start for growth, the warm weather after a cold season.
Jungkook felt like he was stuck in winter for a long time. Frozen, unable to move, and covered in frostbites.
Then spring rolled around and warmed everything up.
"Hey, Kookie?" Asked the little AI next to him.
Jungkook merely blinked, before turning his head once more to stare at the sky. He hummed in response.
"I want to see."
He can't hide it from me forever, Jimin thought.
"See what?"
"The room. I want to see it." Jimin turned his head, his eyes fixating on the younger as he softly sighed.
He closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath. After a few minutes,
He nodded.
Jimin smiled and they both sat up, leaving the roof and making there way back inside where the ac was on, and the air inside felt colder then the one whispering outside.
Jungkook softly took hold of Jimins hand, leading him to the room down the hall. His heart hammering in his chest.
The door looked and felt all too familiar to him.
Jimin squeezed Jungkooks hand in reassurance.
Jungkook didn't know why he was finally letting the older look inside–maybe it was due to the fact they felt closer recently, that he felt as though Jimin was finally someone he can trust in.
And he really did. Jimin made him breathe again, and thats all that mattered at the moment. So he took another breath in, and turned the handle to the door, revealing the inside of a room.
The inside of a room where everything started. Then and now.
Jimin lightly padded across the room, taking everything in.
It looked like an old studio. A room filled with paintings and brushes scattered across the floor. White sheets covering most paintings, and sprawled against majority of the floor. Walls splattered with colourful specs of paint.
Some paintings had Jungkooks face on it, some of other faces that Jimin instantly recognized.
The wind outside picked up then, hitting the frail window and causing it to bust open. The white curtains flowing along with the wind and Jimin turned around to look at Jungkook. The side of the moon reflecting off of the AIs features, highlighting and shadowing over his features.
Their eyes locked, and something really clicked inside the AI.
It was like everything in his brain was glitching.
A scratchy image, barely visible was playing on the inside of his head.
Sun shining heavily into the room, someone standing in front of him. The sun making him glow, making him seem almost golden.
A pair of familiar lips, pulled into a soft smile.
Then; those same lips,
On his, and all he can feel is warmth.
Gone.
"J-Jimin?"
A frail voice spoke out then.
Jimin blinked, only to see Jungkook right in front of him, hands on his face with a look of concern on his face.
"You okay? Your eyes... they—they were glowing."
Jimin parted his lips as his eyebrows narrowed.
What was that?
His eyes traveling up the youngers face in innocent curiosity.
Though instead of the sun, it was the moon making him glow.
Jungkook always glowed.
Jimins eyes lowered at Jungkook gently sweeping his thumb against his cheek.
"Jungkook." Whispered Jimin, his head tilting as he looked up. His gaze was gentle and calm, a look of curiosity swirling around in them.
"Yes Jimin, what is it?" Jungkook whispered back, his breath hitting the AIs face. Yet before Jungkook could ask another question,
Jimin knelt up on the tip of his toes,
And Jungkook suddenly felt something soft on his lips.
Like a feather, simple but effective.
He was shocked yes, though he couldn't help but close his eyes and enjoy the warmth that was filling his body.
He felt warm even though the wind blowing through the window was cold, and even though the ac might have been turned all the way up.
And how could he feel anything else as Jimins hands was now traveling up and landing on the side of his face, pressing his lips softly more onto his.
And he couldn't help the small tear that left his eye because,
This was the room, that Jungkook had his first kiss.
And Jimin has no idea how he knows that, but he does.
Because he feels as though he's stood in this same spot, with the sun shining and Jungkooks lips on his own.
It felt so, natural.
