"I don't know how you talked me into this."
Huffs an exasperated Jungkook, shovel in one hand, the other wiping sweat off his forehead.
"This is illegal." He states again. Thus only causing Jimin to look up at him from where he stood. They were about half ways through digging, him standing right at the bottom making him seem a lot smaller then he originally is.
The look that leaves the AIs face is one of pure blankness, no expression or sense of amusement visible. His eyes dull as he's almost glaring at Jungkook.
"We all know all you did was illegal stuff when you were younger, Jungkook." Jimin huffs, crossing his arms.
Jungkook grins sheepishly before jumping down into the hole. He hits the ground with the shovel before merely shrugging his shoulders.
"Well yeah, though all that stuff never involved digging up someones grave."
"There's not even a real body in here."
"It's still a grave."
"Without a real body. I'm Jimin, this is my body. I'm not in the ground."
They bicker as they continue shovelling. This task a little easier for Jimin due to him not being fully human, which gave him a lot of stamina and the smallest bit of more muscle power. Jungkook—who hasn't worked out in a long while, still toned but his stamina and everything has been a lot lower.
They stop once a loud 'clang' sound of the shovel hitting a hard cover. The clang traveling up the shovel and tingling through their arms.
It's then when everything kind of really hits Jungkook.
The day of the funeral.
Even though it's now known that it was never really Jimin, it still hurt.
The tight and intense feeling of panic the moment the casket was lowering into the ground. The sky crying out over the loss of an angel. The wails of his brothers, the mothers and the fathers.
Jungkooks complete and utter numbness to it all.
How he stood there when everyone left, havnt moved, said anything, or even cried.
He just felt so lost, so far gone like his reason to live was buried under also.
He shudders at the thought and Jimin looks towards him, a look of worry now replacing his features.
"Hey." The AI says softly, walking up to Jungkook and wrapping his arms around his torso. Jungkook buries his face into Jimins hair, inhaling in as he starts to calm down once more.
"Sorry. " he sighs out. "It still hurts."
"I know." Says Jimin, looking up and placing a small peck to Jungkooks chin.
"It will always hurt. You just have to learn to love and accept again."
The younger nods his head then and sighing.
"You're right." He sighs out. He drops his head his forehead rests against Jimins. Jungkook lets his mind clear up before him and the AI are pulling the casket out.
This to anyone and to even themselves seemed completely morbid, the only thing that makes them continue is the fact that it is indeed, not Jimin.
"You ready?" Asks Jungkook as he looks towards the AI.
"Yeah." Says Jimin, both boys now holding the lid of the casket about to open it, heart beating wildly in Jungkooks chest.
It's the sound of Jungkooks ringtone that echoes through the cemetery then. They flinch and the almost half open lid falls down with a hitch, covering up what's inside once more.
Jungkook sighs and whips out his phone without looking at the caller ID.
"What?" Jungkooks snaps then, wanting to get this all over and done with.
"You know what you find inside is not going to make a difference." Says an unknown yet familiar voice.
"Wha—"
"Just an empty shell of once was~" a voice is nearly singing out now and Jungkooks heartbeat picks up. He's turning his head to look around. From what he can see it was only him and the AI visible in the cemetery.
"He will never be full again and you know that. I'd know that."
Jungkook grits his teeth then.
"Kang."
"Ah. You remember me I see."
"How could I not? You!...you..."
Jimin looks over to Jungkook concerned. He walks up to him and places his hands delicately on his chest. His eyes nearly flash before he tilts his head.
"Kookie. Is everything okay?"
Jungkook gulps as his fingers tighten around the phone. His eyes staring at Jimin, he feels the pain in his heart once more.
"You know there's only one way to make him full again."
Jungkooks breath hitches then, eyes widening as he's still staring at the smaller one.
"What? How."
A laugh echoes through the phone.
"Meet me at you know where. At sundown."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
There was another chuckle, almost darker, deeper this time.
"The very spot where you pushed my son off a cliff. You know where."
Then Jungkook was left with the sound of a beep on the other side of the phone, thus indicating the hanging up of the phone.
He feels his hand shake as he shuts his phone off then.
Through the process of him talking to Kang, Jimin was lifting up the lid of the casket.
They both stood beside each other, staring at a body that wasn't Jimins. Laid out there, looking lifeless in a way that wasn't human.
—
Both boys drove home in silence.
When they walked into the house, it was silent.
Getting ready for bed, they didn't talk.
Didn't say goodnight as Jungkook walked into his room and laid down.
He felt sick, and lost and everything was seeming too much again.
He listened to the sound of the clock ticking, and it seemed so familiar he was almost thrown back to the times he'd lay in this very spot. By himself, wallowing in his own self pity and despair.
He was snapped out of it at the sound of pitter-patter of feet making its way to his room.
He lets his head roll to the side and he spots the boy with cotton candy for hair and he feels his heart fill once more.
"Jungkookie?" The AI says softly.
"Yes?"
Jimin fumbles with the sleeves of his shirt.
"Can I.." he fumbled with his fingers."can I lay with you?" Asks Jimin, his eyes becoming almost doe like as he stares at Jungkook with such a vulnerability.
"Of coarse." Says Jungkook softly and Jimin waddles over, crawling onto the bed gently. He lays beside the younger, both face to face. The light of the moonlight softening their features as they stared at each other.
They stayed silent like that for a small while. And as Jungkook stared at Jimin then, the feeling of his heart swelling.
He couldn't help but think,
Maybe as long as Jimin was there he didn't mind the sound of the clock ticking.
Because he was no longer alone.
