"Dear Jungkook,
I've told you before,
Goodbye never meant forever.
And so long as we have the thought of forever, I will forever stay by your side. Even if it seems like I'm not,
I am, you'll see.
I love you.
Sincerely:
P.JM"
That was the last thing human Jimin ever wrote to Jungkook.
What did he mean? In a lot of ways, Jungkook felt like there was a hidden message among it.
He's read the note over, and over, and over.
And every time he did, he only came to one conclusion.
Maybe forever meant goodbye,
Because it felt like forever since he saw and heard the sound of Jimins breathing, the way he sounds when he hums as he paints his next masterpiece, the way he laughs, and the way he flings himself onto anyone nearby as he bellows out.
Just the melody that is Park Jimin.
He never knew how to say goodbye.
Refused to say it.
And sometimes a simple goodbye was all you needed for closure.
Cause then, Jungkook might have felt for sure that he was truly gone.
He was; though he held doubts. He always did.
And as he stared at the AI in front of him, Jungkook thought to himself.
Is this what he means he'll stay by my side? Even if that means as an AI and not as himself?
Though as much as human and AI Jimin were a lot alike—they weren't the same.
And Jungkook stopped comparing the two a long time ago.
Though, even now,
AI Jimin suddenly started to act a little bit...off.
Sometimes it was like he would shut down for a few minutes, then his eyes would start glowing.
And after Jungkook would get him to come back to him, the AI would look almost confused.
Then he would go back upstairs, to the art studio and lock himself in there for a few hours.
Sometimes Jungkook would follow, and he would wrap his arms around the smaller one, resting his chin atop his head as they sat on the floor, Jungkooks back pressed against the wall, with his hands playing with the hair on the back of Jimins nape. They'd sit in silence, and that was okay.
Something was terribly bothering the AI and Jungkook wanted to know what.
What was so terrible that it could make an AI cry. A bot that was supposed to be stoic, and cold. An artificial being that doesn't even understand the base of human emotions, yet has the ability to shed tears.
Why?
"Hey." Jungkook whispered to the boy in his arms then.
His face was pressed against his chest, his hands curled up into a fist as they lay under his heart.
Jungkook reached a hand and pushed the boys hair back. He didn't know why, but it almost seemed like the colour was fading. And if he looked close enough... it was almost like—almost like the roots were growing out.
