I awoke with a start. My neck and shoulders hurt by the way I was sleeping. I looked at the bed and panicked. Alexia was gone. I looked out the window briefly and saw the sun hanging high. I scooped up chairman meow and went out the door.
"Magnus?" I called.
"He left to go buy some food."
The moment I heard her voice I let go of the cat who gave me a high screeching meow. I walked to the direction of her voice and I finally saw her standing in the kitchen.
She looked amazing. Her features now seemed to glow. Her hair was brighter and shiner, her skin was golden. Her lips were shaped better and her eyebrows arched higher than before. She looked like a goddess. When I reached her eyes I gasped. They were golden, they were so gold they seemed to illuminate the room.
I walked up to her and she met me halfway. I grabbed her face and looked at her more closely. I hugged her so hard and she did too.
"I'm so sorry Sean," she whispered.
Tears pooled in the back of my eyes but I held them back.
We pulled away and I kissed her softly. God I had missed this so much. She kissed me back as if her life depended on it. I held on tight to her, never wanting to let go.
"You don't know how I've felt these last couple of days not knowing if I would ever see you again," I leaned my forehead on hers.
"I'm here now. I'm not going anywhere." She whispered back.
"I love you so much." The tears came now. She kissed them away.
"I'm here."
I put my lips back to hers and I finally felt like everything would be okay. Having her in my arms reassured me that. We kissed for minutes, hours, or days but I lost track of time.
I finally pulled away breathless when I heard Magnus at the door.
"There you are you darn cat. I've been looking everywhere for you," Magnus said as he walked into the kitchen.
"Well, glad to see you're finally awake Sean. I brought some food that needs to be heated up." He put several bags on the table.
I walked to them and checked to see what it was. Frozen pizza.
"Do you know where my cat was last night Sean? I kept looking for him but I couldn't find him," he asked while feeding him.
"Uh actually he was with me the whole night. I heard you calling for him and then he just appeared in front of my door." I said with guilt.
"I see how it is. When you get locked out don't be scratching on my door," Magnus pointed a finger at the cat. Alexia laughed. I took the pizza out and heated it up. After three slices Magnus talked.
"So what do you plan on doing now?"
"Find my father," I answer immediately.
"How do you plan on doing that?"
"I don't know. The Morgenstern's said that they'd help but I don't know how."
Magnus looked thoughtful for a minute by didn't say anything else.
"We leave today right?" Alexia asked.
"Yes we do," I smiled at her.
After we ate with Magnus we cleaned up the kitchen. We gathered our things and bid goodbye to Magnus and thanked him for his help. I closed the door to his apartment as we left. We grabbed a cad and we headed back to the institute. I held on to Alexia the whole way there. When we arrived I tipped the driver and got our stuff out.
