The Past

Waking up to a giant nose in his face was something Jacob wasn't used too. The hot breath hitting his skin made him feel like he was in a sauna. Or an oven. A very stinky oven.

"Ah! Mason!" Jacob whined as he pushes the giant dog away. "Your breath is awful!" he said. "I thought I shut the door so you couldn't get in." he mumbled tiredly.

Mason let out a groan and lays down at the end of the bed. His head rests on Jacob's feet and let out a sigh. Soon enough, Mason falls asleep. 'He might fall asleep on me and I will suffocate.' Jacob thought as he stared at the beast.

Sighing, Jacob rolls as much as he could with his trapped legs and tries to fall back to sleep. The position was uncomfortable but he was too tired to care. He lays his head back on the pillow and closes his eyes. 'It's going to be hard falling back asleep.'

When his eyes shut, the darkness changed to a familiar scene. A familiar terrifying scene.

He was thrown to the ground with incredible force, landing flat on his back. The back of his head smashed against the floor. Stars flash across his vision as the pain set in.

It was hard to breathe. Broken ribs poked at his lungs and threatened to puncture them. He had to breathe in short bursts to keep the pain at a minimum.

Slowly, Jacob pushes himself up into a sitting position. One arm held his broken ribs while the other pushed against the floor. 'Shit. Shit. Shit.' he thought with hisses.

When his vision cleared, he noticed someone standing in front of him. Following from the leg up, he stares at the muscular legs that were attached to a hard six pack to a broken face. The man's nose was clearly broken with blood gushing out of the nostrils. Their left eye was puffed up and black and blue.

Jacob picks himself up off the ground. Everything burned terribly. His head pounded from the punches and kicks. Blood ran down his bleeding mouth and other parts of his body that was split open from cuts.

He kept his hand pressed against his broken ribs as he got into a fighting position. His legs were spread a part but pointed forward. Jacob raised his free hand up in a clenched fist to protect his face.

Taking in shallow breaths, Jacob faces his opponent with a straight face. "Is that all you got?" he taunted. A cocky smirk grew on his face, showing the bloodstained teeth. "Come and get me!" Jacob yelled.

A growl escaped his opponent as the man lunged at Jacob. A fist was thrown at Jacob's face but he was able to dodge in time. He sidesteps and the fist just grazes his cheek. Using his free hand, Jacob delivers a right hook to the man's chin. He could feel and hear the clack when the man's jaw connected with his upper teeth.

His opponent was momentarily stunned. Jacob saw the dazed look on the man's face and took advantage. Grabbing the man by the shoulder, he pushes the man forward and shoots his knee up. His knee made contact with his opponent's face.

Jacob took a step back as the man collapsed. The man landed on the ground with a mighty smack.

Taking slow deep breaths, Jacob looks up to stare at those who watched. "Did you enjoy watching?" he asked bitterly. "I just beat up my own friend because you wanted him to kill me." he growled angrily.

"I must say you are very impressive. I can't wait to see you again." spoke the Dangerous Man. The man with bright blue eyes that could trap anyone.

His eyes shot open with a gasp.

Cold sweat was running down his body. He was experiencing horrible shudders that made the bed shake.

'Why am I thinking of them? I'm far away from those people. They can't get me.' Jacob thought as he reaches for Mason and pulls the dog beside him. Wrapping his thick arms around the Bernese, he buries his nose into Mason's fur and fell back asleep.
