911 Operator: 911, What is your emergency?
Male Caller: *heavy breathing* please come quick! I don't have much time until they realize I'm gone!
911 Operator: What is your state of emergency?
Male Caller: There is an underground death match happening right now! You need to bring police here now!
911 Operator: Can you repeat that, Sir? Did you say that there is a fight happening?
Male Caller: An underground fight! People are betting on people to beat each other to death! Hurry!
911 Operator: Okay, I'm dispatching a few police officers. Can you tell me where you are?
Male Caller: In the abandoned underground parking lot between 1st and Macer Street. Hurry! I might not have much time!
911 Operator: Okay, Sir. I want you to stay on the line with me and find a place to hide.
Male Caller: I can't. They'll know something is up. He's gonna find me. I might not make it.
911 Operator: Who's going to find you?
Male Caller: The ringleader of this place. His name is Gabriel Rodriguez. He's a fucking gang leader. Please, hurry.
911 Operator: What is your name, Sir?
Male Caller: Anonymous.
The recording ended after that. The call had been cut off.
A snarl rumbled through the man's throat as he throws the phone across the room. It crashed against the wall and broke into many pieces.
"That's his voice alright." Gabriel growled. His crystal blue eyes cut toward his men that cower under his gaze. "How do you lose my best fighter?" he demanded angrily. "Do you realize how much money I made off of him! People come for his looks and skills!" Gabriel shouted. "They are blood thirsty for that man!"
"I'm sorry, Boss! He just slipped from our fingers through the chaos!" cried one of his men, a scrawny man dressed in rags. "You gave him the phone in the first place!" yelled another man accusingly at the scrawny man.
"Is that right?" Gabriel asked.
The fear in the scrawny man's eyes revealed all. The man stood rigid as he began to stutter his words.
Before the man could say anything, a gunshot rang out. The man stilled before collapsing to the ground. Blood pooled out of the bullet hole in his head, staining the clean wood floor.
Everyone was silent as they stared at the dead body. It was sudden and horrifying.
"Glad to get that out of the way." Gabriel said calmly as he tucks his gun back into his jeans. He acts as if nothing has happened. "Now let's continue," he began with a smile. "I want you all to hunt down Jacob Danvers. Use every resource you have, including our men in the police force." he ordered. "I want that man found and returned to me."
No one dared to ask questions and they all bolted out of the room.
"Someone clean up this mess! I'm not gonna ask twice!" Gabriel yelled at their retreating forms. Unlike most of them, he wasn't as squeamish to bodies. Especially with blood.
Avoiding the pooling blood, Gabriel walked to a mirror that hung on the wall beside his couch. He checked his reflection and ran his fingers through his short blond hair. It was a simple buzz that was just a few inches long. Gabriel's skin was a light tan that defined his well chiseled face. His sharp features gave him a certain appeal that would have anyone drop their guard.
His calloused fingers touch the scar that ran across his cheek and touched the corner of his mouth. 'I hate to admit it but Jacob has a tough bite.' Gabriel thought as he recalled the pain. Jacob had taken a bite out of Gabriel's cheek when they first met. The man wasn't afraid of the consequences.
"I'll find you, Jacob. You are my prized possession. Let the hunt begin."
