The Call

Bucky let out frustrated yells as he tried to force his way out of the cuffs. His skin was rubbed raw down to the epidermis layer from the hard steel. Blood ran up his arms and drips on to the bed.

He had spent the last two hours trying to slip out of his restraints. Unless he wanted to break his fingers, he couldn't find another way out that isn't using brute force.

'Where the hell did Jacob even get these handcuffs?' he thought for the thousandth time.

Letting out a frustrated sigh, Bucky relaxes and lays his head on his pillow. He couldn't feel his arms from the blood not being able to circulate to his hands. They tingled weirdly as if his limbs were sleep. It was so bothering.

'How am I supposed to help him like this? He's gonna get himself killed without me.' Bucky thought in annoyance.

The door to his bedroom opens up with a whine. Bucky didn't get his hopes up. He glances over but doesn't see anyone. Only  a tail.

'Right, Patricia's animals are here.' Bucky said as he watches Jackal jump onto the bed. The black cat lets out a long meow as he walks across the bed to reach Bucky. "Nice to see you, Jackal." Bucky greeted the cat.

The cat rubs his face against Bucky's own. Pleasant purrs escapes Jackal's throat. Clearly, the cat doesn't realize the situation Bucky is in.

'As far as I know, I've been here for maybe two hours.' Bucky thought as he sneezes a few times because of the fur. 'I haven't heard any screaming or gunshots so he might still be alive.' He moves his head to the side so that he could breathe without Jackal smothering him. 'How the hell am I supposed to get out of here?' he thought.

The silence was interrupted by Marcus, Mason, and Terry flooding into the room. They jump onto the bed and climb over Bucky's body. "Fuck!" Bucky yelped at the weight on his chest. "God, what does Patricia feed you?!"

The dogs laid themselves on Bucky's legs. None of them had a care in the world.

"Oh come on!" Bucky whined as he folds his legs. "Why don't you guys find me something sharp to use." he said. Just as he said that, his eyes catch the dog tag on Marcus's neck. The metal piece was dangling from the collar by a metal wire wrapped tightly together.

'Perfect.' Bucky thought. "Hey, Marcus." he called out to the giant dog. Letting out kissy noises, he attracts the lumbering loaf of fluff toward him. The dog gave Bucky a face full of licks. "Come here, boy." Buck said, flexing his fingers to attract the dog to his hand.

Marcus gave Bucky's hand excited licks before leaning into the man's hand. The dog gives Bucky access to his throat, his tail wagging. "Yes. Yes." Bucky said as he digs his nails through Marcus's fur, trying to find the collar. 'God, his fur is so thick!' Bucky thought as it took a few moments to reach through the thick fur to find Marcus's collar.

Finally, his fingers find the thick leather collar and grasps it. 'Yes!' he thought happily.

He keeps his fingers hooked around the collar to keep Marcus from moving as he spider-crawls down to the name tag. The muscles in his fingers ached painfully. Bucky refuses to stretch out his fingers or else he might lose Marcus. 'Come on. Come on.' he repeated.

After painstaking minutes, Bucky successful grasps the string of metal that connected the name tag to the collar. "Yes!" Bucky cried out, not caring that every animal in the room jumped in surprise. Using his fingers that were screaming in pain, he twists the metal around and around until it came loose from the collar.

The dog tag and the metal cord came off and he held them both in his hand. Bucky laughed successfully as he clutched the metal cord tightly. His nails dig into his palm so deep that they broke the skin. 'Now far the hard part.' Bucky thought as he pushes one end of the cord outward with his thumb.

It took all of the patience Bucky had to not yell in frustration as his thumb keeps slipping with each push. He bites down on his lower lip and waited till he stretched the cord out long enough to be used. A smile broke out on his face as he stared at the small item that will get him out.

"Let's do this." Bucky said to himself. Using all of the flexibility in his hand, he is able to stick the end of the cord into the keyhole of the handcuffs. "Let's put my lock-picking skills to the test." he mumbled.

The landline lays on the floor in shattered pieces. Wires, plastic, and microchips were scattered all around. Jacob had ripped the cord out of the wall in his fit of rage.

Jacob stares at the mess he has made. 'Patricia isn't going to be happy.' he thought.

The call was unexpected. At first, he thought it was Patricia calling but he was wrong. Oh, so very wrong.

Listening to the receptionist tell him that an officer named 'Louis Garcia' is coming to visit, he knew who she really meant. He knew all of Gabriel's aliases and recognized the name. It looks like Gabriel was able to lie his way to get what he wanted from the principal.

Jacob kept quiet as she spoke. Once she was done, he simply says goodbye and ends the call. Then he tore the phone out of the wall and shatters it to bits.

His heart was beating erratically. His hands were shaking unsteadily. Jacob was growing incredibly warm in his rage. This feeling was familiar as it was what he feels before going into attack mode. In just a little bit, he will become the Jackal once again.

'I need to do a once over. Make sure everything is set up.' Jacob thought quickly. He tucks in his knife into his jeans before he started going around the house.

Despite being raised in a first class neighborhood and family, Jacob was taught how to defend a household. Jacob learned how to set traps with common household items. He checks the front door, checks that it was locked, and that the string that was connected to a box of marbles was set. Boy, it was easy to make such a contraption.

The windows were locked and had thumbtacks hot-glued to the edges. (It would slow them down enough for Jacob to attack if he needed to.) And borrowing the idea from the movie You're Next, he hammered nails through a thin piece of wood and placed it right under the window. Gabriel and his men wouldn't be able to see it until it was too late.

In the kitchen, on the stove were two pots of boiling water. Jacob had hidden the knives in certain parts of the house just in case. Same with magazines for the shotgun.

After checking the downstairs, Jacob heads upstairs. At the top of the stairs was a bucket of oil to use if he's being chased. It'll be funny watching large men fall down the stairs.

He kept all of the doors unlocked. All but one. Jacob planned to have them chase him into the spare bedroom where he'll trap them. The bedroom had a door that was connected to the bathroom. Jacob was going to sneak out through the bathroom, lock the door behind him, and hurry out through the bathroom door and then lock the bedroom door. Simple and easy.

'Everything seems to be in order.' Jacob thought as he double-checks that the knives and magazines were where he left them. 'The traps outside should slow them down so that I can prepare.' he thought satisfied.

"Come and get me, Gabriel." Jacob said as he stared out the window, watching as a black SUV was driving up the road.
