Doctor Who One Shots

Matt and Lily ~ University

"Bye Lily, we love you!" Lily James' parents gave her one final wave goodbye before they left her to fend for herself. It was her choice, of course, they weren't terrible people who kicked her out- oh no- she was beginning her first year at university studying drama.

She flung herself backwards onto her bed, taking in the sight of her new home for the next year or so. She was quite lucky, she managed to get a flat that was actually nice as opposed to the usual poor conditions a uni dorm would be in. Her bed was moderately big and covered in the new bedding her mum had bought; freshly washed so it would smell like home for the first couple of weeks to help her get past the home sickness. There was a long desk with a spinny chair tucked under it, plug sockets, floating shelves, a wardrobe and her own bathroom. She took in a deep breath... let's do this Lily.

"Are you sure you're alright unpacking I can do it now while I'm here still."

"Mum I'm fine, honest!" Matt was attempting to calm his mum down who was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Her baby was fleeing the nest and she wasn't ready for it yet, despite him being nearly 19 years old.

"Okay alright! We'll leave you alone now." The woman pulled Matt into a death grip hug, squeezing all the air out of him. "Be safe, don't do stupid things and make sure you knuckle down. I'm so proud of you." She kissed him on the cheek quickly then turned away so he wouldn't see the tears brimming in her eyes.

"I will mum. I love you too." He gave his dad one last hug as well as his sister then, they were gone. His door closed and he sat down on his bed, looking around the room. This is gonna be one hell of an experience... let's do it.

Lily was sat in the 'living room' of the flat watching the tiny tv in the corner that was playing Mamma Mia. Her humming ceased as she heard a female voice come from the corridor containing the bedrooms. She jumped up from the sofa and opened the door leading into the kitchen/living room space to find a short girl with brunette hair struggling to wheel her bags through the doorframe.

"Here let me help." She grabbed two of the bags from the girl and looked at her. "I'm Lily by the way."

"Thank you. I'm Jenna, Jenna Coleman." They dumped her bags into Jenna's room then turned to look at each other. "Looks like you're my new roomie for the next year or so." Lily noticed her northern accent and smiled, she loved the way it sounded.

"I guess so. It's lovely to meet you!" Lily held out her hand for Jenna to shake which she did. "I'll leave you to unpack I guess. I'll just be in the living room if you need any help." Lily left the room and was just about to re-enter the kitchen when the door to the flat opened once more. This time there were two girls wheeling in their cases. One was a tall ginger while the other was short and blonde. Lily smiled at them both.

"Hey I'm Lily!" The two girls waved back at Lily.

"I'm Karen." The ginger girl smiled and waved awkwardly back at her.

"I'm Billie, nice to meet you." The blonde girl waved at Lily.

"Well girls welcome to the flat! Jenna is in there unpacking and I'm gonna go to the living room. Just shout if you need me or anything." The two girls nodded, smiling at Lily as she walked back into the kitchen.

"Hi mate, I'm Matt nice to meet you." Matt was stood in the kitchen/living room space of his flat after he'd finished unpacking his bags.

"Hey, I'm Arthur. Urm that's Richard, and that's David. Welcome to the flat!" Arthur shook Matt's hand while the other two boys simply waved at him, smiling. "Grab a drink from the fridge mate, we're just sitting and talking." Matt nodded, walking over to the fridge and picking a can of coke from the fridge. They sat on the sofas talking about themselves, Matt was thankful he ended up there; Arthur, David and Richard seemed like really nice and interesting guys.
