Billy
It was silent in the car, my rock music playing at a low minimum but I was still a bit reckless with driving, "So how's Kasey?" Max asked, I turned my head to her lifting a brow, "You've never liked her, Why are you asking?" I spoke looking back and fourth from the rode to her. "Well you like her so I figured I'd be nice and not bash her"
"You also only met her once. So why don't you like her again?" I spoke rolling my eyes hearing her sigh, "Because she's not Danica" she mumbled causing my heart to skip a beat, My grip on the steering wheel becoming harder. I remembered how fond she was of Max and Max of her. I wasn't going to lie to myself, I did think about Danica. Late at night when I was alone. I thought about how New York was treating her and how well she must be doing. I also thought about the what if's. If I went with her how would our life be?
"Okay brat get out" I joked as I pulled into the arcade parking lot Max rolling her eyes as she stuck out her tongue. I chuckled leaning back into my seat as I watched her walk over to the arcade entrance only to atop in her tracks when she heard her name being called. My eyes flickered over to the group of boys Max had befriended before I left, one of the boys being Dustin Henderson, Danica's younger brother. I watched as the boys greeted her with some kind of handshake. Max's eyes went wide as she froze in place and what I saw her do next made me freeze aswell.
I watched as Max wrapped her arms around the girl that broke me. The girl that loved me with every fiber in her being. Danica. I watched as she hugged Max tightly the two girls saying something to each-other, Most likely the basic "I missed you's".
"Jesus" I breathed out as I watched their encounter. Danica looking more mature and beautiful than ever. Her hair was cut shorter, into a bob which was in small semi curls and waves. Something her hair did whenever she wet it. She had on her signature leather jacket from our high-school days which was now a bit more worn out just the way she liked her clothes, She would always say "They fit better". I watched Max's eyes flickered my way than followed by Danica's.
Danica
One glance was all it took for my heart to rapidly beat. I could hear it in my ears and i'm pretty sure Max could hear it too. My eyes flickered to him and moved away quickly.
"I I'll pick you guys up later" I stuttered the boys giving me a weird look but continuing on their way to the arcade Max staying behind.
"He came today, he hasn't been back since you left" She spoke squeezing my hand I took a deep breath nodding my head, "I think you guys should talk"
"Max no"
"Look I may be young but i'm mature for my age. You guys should talk, see what four years has done" Max spoke. I gave her a small smile bumping her lightly, "How did you get so smart?" I questioned making her laugh. "Have you met my family" she spoke going into the arcade after the boys.
I walked over to my car grabbing onto the door handle "It's been awhile" I heard shutting my eyes praying that it wasn't him but I could lie to myself all I wanted, I knew it was him.
"Four years Cali but who's counting" I spoke turning around coming face to face with my high school lover, Billy Hargrove. He was handsomer, college helping with his maturity. His hair cut short, the mullet he wore in high school making him look more boyish and his skin tanned due to the California sun, Billy looked good I admitted to myself. I bit my lip as I felt heat building in me causing Billy to chuckle making me blush, "You look good to Henderson" he spoke with a smirk
"Thanks" I whispered looking down fumbling with my fingers. There was a silence between us, nothing awkward, just the peaceful relaxing silence that soothes the both of us. I remembered the times when I would fall asleep on his chest as we laid in his bed, His fingers in my hair.
"How are you?" He asked causing me to look back up at him, My eyes glued onto his blue orbs that I loved so damn much.
"Good, You?" I asked tucking a curl behind my ear
"I'm better now" He answered with a smirk causing me to giggle, "Oh Hargrove you were always such a flirt" I spoke making him chuckle "Only for you"
I smiled at him before looking down kicking some rocks around, "I uh have to go" I spoke turning around to open my car but only to be pulled away and into strong arms. I inhaled his scent right away, butterflies erupting in my stomach at his touch, His arms wrapped tightly around my waist as I slowly wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I'll see you around Hargrove" I spoke as we pulled away, "Yea i'll see you around" Billy spoke as I gave him a sweet smile hopping into my car driving off.
