She's black women who possess strength and boundless beauty. Her natural hair, dark skin, full lips, and her body are one of her few unique characteristics. I've to study Her for a year now to know that there is more to her than just her features.

Her Faith is more than philosophical or theoretical, it is real. She's loyal, honest and calm. They say it takes a brave heart to stay calm in a cruel world, and that's exactly what she is. She may be young, but she cares for all children. She is a mother to the homeless.

Ever since I moved to Africa I've set my eyes on her. She is an inspiration to me. With her glorious magic, she motivates me, makes me believe in myself. Her smile is like a ray of sunlight in the cold winter days. She fights for the right of everyone because she believes in, equality between men and women.

She is UTHANDO meaning love. Exactly what she is to me, my love.

There's nothing better than two friends sharing an ice cream sundae on a Wednesday morning.
A Japanese scientist, Yoshihiko Koga once said that ice cream is good for breakfast, apparently, it shocks the brain into an active mode.

Her hair begins dancing in the wind. She's magnificent in every way; head to toe, inside out, left to right and all her black and yellows ( bad and good ). OOo!! To describe the beauty of thee would drain the ocean dry

"How did you end up here? "

I ask

" It's a long story. "

" I've got plenty of time. "

I say and she smiles.

" My mom, named me Uthando, meaning love. She told me I was a symbol of her and my father's love. I started school at the age of 5. My schoolmates would laugh at me because I was different; my skin is darker, my hair curly and my eyes ...
I was bothered at the beginning, but later it became a part of me. At the age of 10, my mom died; that was the saddest day for dad and me. She was meant to be my best friend forever, but she left way to soon. Later on, my dad committed suicide. He said that if my mom was gone, what purpose did he have. I guess I never really mattered. I was left all alone. After all that I forced myself to go to school. I was again humiliated by my schoolmates; This time, it hurt so bad that I ran to a place where, I felt at peace, my parents' garden, Logan; It was the place where they met for the first time. I went there every day because I felt safe and at peace. I flipped a coin in the fountain, as a sign of remembrance of my mother and selfish father, and in hope of long life, freedom, and a faithful husband.
As time went by, I learned how to survive on my own, with the help of a neighbour. When I was 15, I decided to visit my aunt. As I opened the door I heard a loud cry, it was aunt Mia, uncle Steve was hitting her. I was shocked. The man whom, I respected so much, dare to raise a hand on a woman. Then he said: " I told you to stay home! Why didn't you just listen to me? I am still your husband, just because you helped me start my business doesn't mean you control me."
I stood there silently as she replied: ' Steve I'm sorry but I didn't do anything wrong, I did what every other wife would have done.'
Steve:' Except other wives Don't look like mine! '
Mia: ' what's that supposed to mean '
Steve: ' your...your...your black Mia, your skin is dark and I'm the only one with a dark-skinned wife '
Mia: ' and what's wrong with that ?'
Steve saw me and immediately he grabbed me. He whipped me with the same belt he used on aunt Mia. I was injured badly.  I didn't cry, I couldn't. It hurt but not as much as losing an only friend, not as much as losing your life guide not as much as losing your MOTHER!
Mia tried to save me and in the process, she lost her life. Steve killed her! My last hope for a family was gone. I wanted to give up and hope no more but I didn't, I kept on hoping and my faith grew stronger.
At the age of 16, I went through the most tragic thing. Steve forcibly married me. I was ashamed for what he did, but I couldn't do anything about it. As a woman, I had no say in it.

He came back from work once and I can't say what happened but I realized later that I was pregnant. Which were the worst times of my life? The whole town knew and I was the bad one. Due to that, I couldn't finish school. Later Steve brought another girl home and told her I was a maid. Later on, she too was pregnant. I was too small to give birth so my only option was abortion.  I didn't want to but Steve wouldn't let me have the child saying he had enough already. I felt sorry for Steve because none of the girls wanted the babies and all 6 women dumped the babies at his door.
I tried getting a job but I was told it was for men and that a women's place is in the kitchen. I was angry because women couldn't do anything but cook and clean all day. I grew sick and tired of that, there was no equality.
I sold some of my father's things and with that money I survived
. Steve eventually got tired of me and kicked me out. It was the best day of my life. I found out later that he sent all the babies to an orphanage ... "
