I woke up to screaming from the kitchen, probably between my mom and dad.
I get up, and get ready. I tried my best to ignore all the yelling but it was almost impossible.
"This is why we only have one child in our house still! As soon as he turns eighteen he's also out of the house!" I hear my mom yell.
I freeze at her words. Seungwon and Seungho both left. I haven't seen them since they moved out when they turned eighteen. I miss them, a lot.
And here it goes, it all turning on my mom.
"This is your fault, not mine! Maybe if you were a better mother to them they would stay! I only tell them the truth, like they should be told!"
I shivered. How could he turn that on my mom? She's been there more than he has. Let alone been nice to me.
Sighing, I grabbed my backpack and headed out of my room. I was met with the two still yelling at each other as I left the house to go to school. The yelling froze when I opened the front door. As soon as I closed it, I could hear the screaming go on.
"Is everything okay in there, Seungmin?" My neighbor, Woojin, asked. He was an okay neighborhood, minded his own business. But he always asked if everything was okay when I left the house with yelling behind me.
"Yeah, they're just arguing. Thank you, though, Hyung." I smiled.
He used to go to our school but had started school early so he graduated last year. I didn't know him too well until we realized we were neighbors.
"Alright. Get to school safe." He replied, returning back to his flowers he had been watering before.
I walked away from my house, heading towards school. On my way, Chan joined me. He lived a block down from me so we sometimes ended up walking together.
"So, I didn't realize until after I asked." He started. "But Jisung sits at the table since he's friends with Hyunjin. But I'm sure he won't bother you." Chan explained. I could tell he was hoping I wasn't going to back out.
I sighed. What if Jisung starts throwing shade at me from all those years ago? I know it wasn't right for me to do that to him but it's in the past and I feel like he needs to get over it. Right?
We made it to school and Hyunjin came up to us.
"Look! I wore it!" He said, gesturing to the yellow sweater he was wearing. It was a pretty color yellow. My favorite shade.
I chuckle. "I like it." I complimented.
"Chan Hyung, Jisung isn't here today. He's sick from yesterday's storm. Stupid kid decided to go play in the water."
"So I lied." Chan said, clapping his hands together and turning towards me. "Seungmin is sitting with us at lunch." Chan informed Hyunjin.
"Ahh." Hyunjin nodded. "It's just me, Felix, and Minho." Hyunjin stated. "At least, without Jisung it is."
"You forgot me." Chan said, his voice a little offended.
"Oh, yeah. Chan Hyung, too." Hyunjin shrugged.
I nodded. How else was I supposed to respond?
We headed off to class. I actually looked forward to seeing Hyunjin in Biology now that I know he's in that class with me. But that was my third class.
I always sat alone, like I said before. No one really cares for my existence.
Until now.
"Hey, What's your name?" I turn to my side to see a boy with black hair that hung over his face practically over his eyes. His eyes were sharp, but he didn't look like the mean type.
I stayed quiet, staring at him. Why did he come up to me?
He frowned. "I asked you a question. My name is Jeongin and I just transferred schools. I wanna make some friends but you don't seem like you wanna be friends."
"It's not that." It came out as a whisper but he somehow heard it.
"What is it then?"
"People usually don't talk to me." I shrugged, my voice still quiet.
"Oh. Well, what's your name?" He asked, leaning forward and setting his head on the desk to look up at me.
"Seungmin." I answered.
"Wow. That's a pretty name. Not that you're feminine or anything." Jeongin said.
He was sweet, I'll give him that.
"What year are you?" He seemed to be asking all the questions.
"00' liner." I answered with the shush still in my voice.
"Oh-"
"Jeongin."
I looked over and could not believe my eyes.
A really old friend of mine. He must have transferred with Jeongin. His name, I'm pretty sure it was something like Chenle.
"Hm?" Jeongin hummed, sitting up to get a better look of what I assumed to be his friend.
I looked away, turning back to my notebook of lyrics I was writing in before. Though I enjoyed it, the dream of becoming a singer would never become true.
"He's mean. Stop trying to be friends with him." Chenle said.
"No he's not. I can barely make out what he says." He turned back to me. "No offense, Hyung."
Chenle slammed his pen on the table in front of Jeongin, looking at me with a sharp glare.
"Stop acting all innocent, Seungmin. I know you're just a b**ch." He spat.
I gulped, feeling the tears starting to well up in my eyes. I hurt him. And now he was exactly like Jisung towards me.
People were starting to draw their attention towards us. I could feel the panic arise in me. My anxiety was getting the better of me. I could not break down in front of this class plus Chenle. He'll think I'm trying to act innocent.
"So screw off. Jeongin, don't sit so close to him." Chenle's Words were filled with acid.
Here came the water works.
I sniffed and tried to wipe the tears. My mind was becoming blank and everything was becoming louder. Chenle's voice played in my head like a broken record player.
"Stop acting all innocent, Seungmin. I know you're just a b**ch."
No. I'm not, I swear.
I stood abruptly, wiping my tears as I excused myself from the classroom. I did not need this right now.
I slammed the door open and walked out into the hall. I slid down to the floor against the wall outside the classroom as our teacher came out.
"Are you Alright, Seungmin?" Ms. Kim asked.
I nodded. "I-I-" sob. "I'm just having an attack." I answered as best I could.
"Alright. Come back in when you're ready." She smiled at me before going back inside, immediately yelling at Chenle for triggering it.
But it wasn't his fault.
I took some color from his life in the past.
