Peter had been avoiding Deadpool for an entire week. He'd seen him around Queens a couple of times. Then in Manhattan. Then Brooklyn. Then again in Queens, at that old Mexican restaurant he forgot the name of. And all those times he hid, ran or swung away.
And even with Deadpool out of sight, he couldn't manage to get the thought out of his head.
Deadpool was his soulmate.
He had been expecting a girl, in the first place. Cause Peter was convinced that he was a 100% heterosexual. A pretty blonde girl with blue eyes maybe, but Gwen Stacy was marked with a date. Or maybe a beautiful redhead with bright green eyes, but her soulmate was John Jameson. And Liz Allen...well...in the end she realized Peter wasn't her type.
In conclusion, it could've been anyone. Anyone but a man. Anyone but Deadpool.
Yeah he'd been confused when reading the name "Wade" for the first time. But he thought it was one of those gender neutral names girls got, like 'Alex' or 'Taylor', he thought that maybe it was some exotic girl name he didn't know about. Never once did he consider the possibility of it belonging to a man.
The whole situation was nonsensical and had kept him up all night every night since the moment he laid eyes on that stupid file.
Peter only knew one thing with certainty, Deadpool couldn't find out. Not about him reading the file, and definitely not about the soulmate thing. He had to keep it a secret.
And that's exactly what he was planning to do.

Spider-Man stared at the merc, who was sitting on a roof doing Odin knows what. At least he wasn't pointing at anyone's head with anything.
Peter contemplated his alternatives. He could go up to him and do what he'd been planning to do or bolt out of there like he'd done so many times in the past week. He watched as the man took some sort of burrito out of a paper bag and rolled his mask halfway up his face, Peter couldn't really see anything though.
He sighed.
Here goes nothing.
Spider-Man came out from his hiding spot and stood a few feet away from Deadpool, whose back was facing him.
"Deadpool?" His voice betrayed him, sounding shaky. He cleared his throat before repeating, this time louder and firm. "Deadpool."
The man quickly pulled his mask back down and looked back at Peter. "Spidey..." He sounded genuinely surprised. "What is a roof like you doing in a guy like this?"
Spider-Man sighed yet again, maybe he should've left. "I changed my mind."
Deadpool didn't move, he stared at the arachnid for a good five seconds before speaking again. "About?" He sounded confused. Peter couldn't blame him. He avoids him an entire week then shows up saying something this cryptic?
"I'm helping you."
"...helping me?"
"Find the guy!"
Deadpool slowly put the burrito back in the paper bag, not taking his eyes off Peter. "...I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about."
Spider-Man groaned loudly. "The guy I let go the last time we met!"
"Oh...oh!" Deadpool nodded, finally understanding. "That guy! Yeah!" He rose an eyebrow. "Wait a minute, really?"
"Really." Spider-Man crossed his arms.
Deadpool's demeanor changed completely. He grabbed the paper bag and jumped to his feet, a huge grin was visible through the mask. "I can't believe it! Oh this is gonna be so awesome, Spidey! We gotta think of a name." He wrapped his arm around the man's shoulder. "What about 'The amazing Spideypool team-up'?"
