I walk along the leaf covered sidewalk. I look down at my shoes tapping along the concrete ground. My hand shoved into the big pocket of my hoodie. My legs covered in goosebumps because of the cold weather.
The only sound of birds chirping and the occasional grumble of a car. I hear someone yell behind me.
"ETHAN" I turn around and I'm faced with the boy from this morning. He smiles at me and looks at the features of my face. I look behind him and see another boy that looks almost identical to him. The other boy runs and stands next to Ethan.
"I'm so sorry. Um my brothers mute so he didn't mean to come off as creepy." The one with the dangly earring says to me with a sorry smile on his face.
"It's okay. I'm Allison" I say taking my hand out for them to shake. Ethan grabs it first and blushes. I giggle and shake his hand
He smiles and bites his lip.
I let go of Ethan's hand and hold mine out for the other boy.
"I'm Grayson and this is my brother Ethan" he says shaking my hand with a smile
"So are you guys new" I ask Grayson as we were all walking the same way now.
Of course they were new. I was just trying to make conversation. Which I'm not good at since I never really talk to anyone
"Uh yeah we moved here from New Jersey" Grayson says. Ethan was playing with his hands while he furrowed his eyebrows. He did some sign language to Grayson and Grayson smiled
"What did he say" I ask Grayson as I look at him then Ethan who was now staring at me again
"He says he likes your voice" Grayson says looking at me
I smile and turn to Ethan who was also smiling
"Thank you" I say as I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. I look down and I feel Ethan's eyes on me
We end up in front of my light blue house.
"Bye" I say as I wave to the twins
Grayson says bye and Ethan waves at me while smiling. Grayson wraps his arm around Ethan's shoulder and they continue to walk. I unlock the front door and head inside.
Ethan's POV
She was beautiful. In class she kept drawing and her drawings were amazing. I tried to pay attention to the teacher but I couldn't. I was lost in her. The way her nose scrunched up when she focused or how she tucks her hair behind her ear when she's nervous.
I wave goodbye to her and me and Grayson start to walk away. I look down at my feet and smile to myself as I think about her. Her perfect pink lips and her forest green eyes.
Grayson laughs from beside me, causing me to look up at him.
I furrow my eyebrows and sign What to him.
"Nothing man your just whipped" he says shaking his head
I roll my eyes and look back down.
"Awe come on E. don't deny it your obsessed with her. You haven't looked at anyone like that since.. you know" he says getting awkward
He's talking about my ex. Or so I thought. Chasity was the popular girl and we dated. I found out it was a dare after I caught her cheating on me. It was our four month anniversary and I walked into her room with roses and a love letter to find one of my best friends on top of her. I loved her and she broke my heart.
Me and Grayson walk home in silence after that. I was okay with it.
