Chapter 6 - Teamwork

The next few days I was going through the contracts with JYP and the legal team. I knew that it would take a lot of time since we needed to talk about the team and staff I wanted to have and where I would work. Today I had my last meeting with them about the structure of the department and everything like that. I had prepared some ideas that I was going to present to them. JYP was a full on buisness man when we met and it was hard  to convince him. There was a thrill in there that I liked alot.  I meet him in his office and waited for him to come back from his lunch with some investors. The door opened and he came in looking tired.

" Oh Naja you are on time. Ok lets get this over. Where do you want to be settled?", he asked me as he took a seat on his chair and unlocked his computer.

"Yes Sir. I would like the department to be situated in the basement. Close proximity to the talents and the training centre. I have looked at the floor plan downstairs and there is a massive office space that is not used. I think it would be ideal to set up the department there. Also I had a look at the people that you suggest to join my team and I do not think anyone in there is good enough. I have called up some of my old college friends who work in the industry and in other fields like sport medicine, nutrition and so on. They are all willing to quitt there job and join me here. These are their CVs and qualifications. Please have a look. There are also the salary that we settled on. For now I want a team of 10 people consisting of me, 2 PR&legal people, 2 Meds, 2 Nurtition experts, 1 IT person, 2 profiler and psychologist and 1 personal assisant. The buget that you gave me is more than enough for hiring them and re-building the space to fit our needs. I talked to the building unit and they just need max 3 days to set up the space. In one week I should be able to start working with them. Contract drafts are also already in preparation. All I need is your yes", I explained and he had a flip through the documents.

"You are well prepared. I will have a look at it but it looks good. Start with the building and general things. I would like to meet your team before you start. Prepare an official introduction and party for the whole of JYP entertainment. Once you have started I want you to present your idea and results to our investors but I will let you know in time", he said yawning.

I bid my goodbye and left to head to my office upstairs. On my way I visted the legal team and asked them to prepare the contracts so that they are ready for tomorrow. I had invited the whole future crew to lunch and after lunch they could sign the contracts. It was alot of work but I looked forward to starting this project. The whole day I was running around and meeting the building unit and handed the plan that I had made while considering the needs of the team. Uka and I did not get to have lunch together these days since he was fully involved in the comeback production of TWICE and I was busy with setting up the department.

I headed home around 1am and fell asleep without eating any dinner. I was just too tired. Around 6am my alarm woke me up and I got dressed in a buisness style suit and headed to the office. At 9 am the team that would be working with me arrived and I picked them in the lobby and led them all into the seperate lunch room in the JYP restaurant. The table was set up with some cold beverages.

" Hello guys I am glad you all are here. As I already have explained to you in the Mail yestersday your contracts are all ready and can be signed after lunch. Let me introduce you to eachother. You can all me Naja. I do not want any hierachy here unless we are in an official setting. So Alex and Sara here are our Meds, Lilly and Oscar are our PR&legal people, Cara and Len are our Nutrition experts, Zee is our IT genuis, Hana and Pete are our profiler and psychiologists and Jo here will be my right hand. It is a pleasure to welcome you all here to the future of the entertainment industry. Please use this time to get to know eachother and enjoy lunch", I said to them smiling.

"Naja you have a department full of youngsters right?", Lilly asked me.

I smiled and nodded.

" Yes that was important to me. Of course you are all young but have a lot of experience and I met you all along the way and was impressed by your vision and work. I needed a team that would understand my vision. That made me select you. 10 people are a good size to me. We are all born around 1993 to 1995", I said laughing.

I was glad to see everyone getting along very well and one by one headed out to get their lunch and came back. The chemistry was good and we got to know eachother better. The legal team collected everyone after 1 hour to go through the contracts and I headed down to the basement to meet the building unit. They had sent me an E-Mail this morning that I should swing by around afternoon. I walked down the halls and passed some practice rooms and studios. It was busy everywhere and the music was blasting out loud.

Our future office space was the last room down the corridor and I was suprised to hear no noise. The day before it was pretty noisy. I opened the doors with my PIN and saw a finished and polished space. The head of the building unit was cleaning some tables as I came in.

"Oh hello Miss Naja. Good news. We are done. It did not take as long as we thought. JYP asked us to hurry so we finished up earlier. Let me give you a tour. By the way your computers are here in the storage room. You wanted to set them up yourself right?", he asked as he put the down the bucket in his hand.

I nodded and smiled widely. He put on the lights everywhere and we walked through the place. It was transparent and open except 3 glass cubes. The biggest one would be my office with Jo, 2 meetings rooms for the teams, 2 fully equiped treatment rooms, an open kitchen, a lounge area and the newest technology, computers and many more. It was great to see the blueprint that I had designed to become reality. He ended the tour and left with his bucket and handed me 10 chip cards for my staff that would give them fully access 24/7 except to my office. I heard someone knock on the door and I opened to see the whole team infront of the space.

" Great timing. I assume you all signed the contract judging by your IDs. Come in. The space is done up ahead of time which means that we can set up the computers. We might need to do a food shop and put up some decoration though", I said as I let them all in and handed them the chip cards.

They were all baffled by the space and seemed more than happy by how is looked.

"Ok why don't the PR people buy some decoration, the nutritiants do the big food shop and the rest sets up the computers. You can borrow cars from the receiption and use the department credit card for the shop", Jo suggest and they agreed and left.

" Jo is already in work mode", I teased her and she just stuck her tongue out. She was the second best at the university I was at and she had a business degree in the music industry. I was actually suprised that she agreed to join me since she could easly be paid more somewhere else but she understood my vision and wanted to be part of it. Money did not matter to her.

In the next couple of hours the team set up the computers with the guidance of Zee. Jo asked him to set up our computers first so we could start working while the others sort out the rest. The rest of the team had also came back and started to put away the food and put up the decorations. Jo and I had a meeting about the welcoming party we had to set up.

"Food, music, decoration are sorted. PR team will sort out the introduction with you. I will do the rest. So we host the party in 2 days. Friday it is. I will send out E-Mail with the invites", Jo said as she typed away.

I nodded and send out an E-Mail myself.

" Please sort out the gift bags and schedule a meeting for tomorrow with the entire team. I will prepare the outline for the event. Can you do up the presentation I send you? Cut it down to the most important content so that the message is clear in 7 min", I said and she nodded and continued typing.

I was suprised to see everyone started to work although they officially started tomorrow. Jo and I left the office space around 2am and I was confused to see everyone on their computers.

" Guys time to go home. Do not overwork yourself on day 1. Also you start officiallytomorrow . I will close up now so go home. We have an early start tomorrow", I said and they all shut down their computers and headed home.

I smiled at the great team that I have build. They worked with passion and I knew that I had selected the right people. Good teamwork was the foundation for this to work. I closed up the space and hailed myself a cab and headed home.
