Those Eyes
Chapter 1: Bumping Into

Josh's PoV

Beep beep. Beep beep. Beep beep. Beep be-

Sleepily, I knock the alarm clock to the floor after fumbling around with the high pitched sound piercing the fogginess of sleep that lingered in my mind. After silencing it, I drop my head onto the pillow and try to fall back to sleep. Slowly, I feel myself fall...

SPLASH!

An icy cold sensation hits me instantly as I could feel water running down my face. I sit myself up, finding a mischievous grin in front of me.

"Morning bro, you seem chilled today"

"Connor, I am going to kill you!"

My younger brother opens up my door and darts out just as soon as I jump out of my bed and sprint towards him. I run down the stairs and chase him into the kitchen/diner. Connor grabs Mom and puts her in front of him as a human shield to stop me. Ha, wimp.

"Mom, look, Josh is trying to kill me," he complains in his 'innocent' voice to Mom.

He thought I was gonna kill him? Wow, I'm a better actor then I thought.

"I'm sure Josh wasn't going to kill you sweetie," she tells Connor before looking at me, and sternly asking, "Joshua Ryan Hutcherson, why on earth where you chasing your sweet little brother around the house?"

"Sweet? He freaking poured a bucket full of freezing water! He's not in any way sweet!"

Mom looks back at Connor.

"Connor," she starts in a slightly threatening way, y'know in a Mom kinda way, "did you do that?" Timidly, he nods as I smirk; that's what he gets for messing with me.

"And you Josh, get up as soon as your alarm goes off rather than knocking it on the floor, maybe this," she gestures to me, "won't happen again.” I can just about see Connor smirking at me, just like I did to him.

“Now go upstairs and get changed, I don’t really want you to drip all over the food. Plus you’ll get a cold.”

I turn to leave and walk up the stairs.

Well, my first day back has really started with a splash.

I walk back down towards the kitchen/diner with my bag slinging on my shoulder, my stomach grumbling for food. When I walk in, I see Mom making some scrambled egg, and my Dad sitting at the table, reading the newspaper.

“Morning son,” my dad calls out behind the several sheets of paper completely blocking his view. It was weird how he could have his back turned to you and still realise you’re walking past, even if you’re completely silent. Let’s say sneaking out was pretty damn impossible.

But it’s not like I do that, pft. I’m a very good boy.

I take a seat at the table as I reply, “Morning Dad.”

“Sweetie,” Mom says, “do you want some scrambled egg?”

Just as I’m about to reply, there’s a knock on the door to which Mom races to answer. However I’m pretty sure I know who it is. After taking a slice of toast and bidding Dad goodbye, I head out towards the front door where I see Mom talking to my best friend.

“Hey man,” I greet him.

“Hey Josh, you ready to go?”

“Yup, “ I reply, and kiss my Mom on the cheek. I find Avan’s already got into his car, so I run on down and hop in to the passenger’s seat.
