Those Eyes
Chapter 4: Getting Closer
Dedicated to Bel, who always supports me and my writing. I love you girl! <3

"Urgh," the brunette girl who is sitting across me cries out, "this homework is annoying!"
"Kat, it's pretty simple." I stare at the boy who's next to me.
"Easy? How in the world is this," I signal towards the text book with masses of questions, "easy? Honestly Josh, this is a nightmare!"
"Yeah," Kat supports, "and I personally think numbers and the alphabet should have just stayed away from each other." Josh laughs at us before putting his hands up.
"Fine, fine, I was just saying!" Kat closes her book, and I follow suit.
"What do you guys want to do?" she asks us as she bounces onto her bed. I shrug, looking around at all of us. It's been a week since I first moved over and met these guys, yet we were already the best of friends. We're in Kat's house (I guess I could also say Josh's auntie's house as well...) for a sleepover, just cause we felt like one.
"Maybe we could play a game?" Josh suggests. We ponder on it for a while before Kat's face lights up.
"I'll be right back," she says, jumping off her bed and running out of the room. I look at Josh and raise my eyebrows to which he laughs.
"Don't worry, it's completely normal, she can be a... little excited." I laugh a little, and then see Kat returning to the room, a pack of cards in her hand. She sits down in front of me and Josh on the floor to almost create a circle.
"What's that in your hand cuz?"
"A game we can play! Basically, we'll take it in turns to pick up a card and ask the person to our left the question on the card, 'kay?" We nod our heads and she grins.
"I'll go first! Joshie, what is your favourite colour?" Automatically, without even taking a second to thing, Josh responds "Red. Right my go." He pulls a card out of the pile and faces me.
"So, Jennifer, which sweet flavour do you prefer: lemon or apple?"
"Apple, for definite! Okie dokes Katherine, when was your first kiss?" She has to think for a little while before answering. "I think I was 13. Eh, not sure but oh well!"
We continue playing, answering random questions that were thrown at us.
"What is your ideal girl?" I'm not gonna lie, for some reason I started listening a little harder for the answer, curiosity filling my body.
"Hmm, someone who's a bit childish and crazy, but serious when necessary. They gotta be caring and sweet and all that chiz." I laugh, nodding my head. Whoever Josh's girl would have to be freaking amazing - he deserves someone just as amazing as he is.
Obviously, I mean that in a ' he's my best friend so I can say that without him thinking I like- like him' way, since like-liking him would be insane since I met him a week ago.
But you're best friends with him, and it’s been a week. Who's best friends with a boy who they met a week ago? Trust me girl, you can get close, fast so liking him is no biggie for you.
Shut up inner voice that annoyingly lives in my head. I don't like him.
Yes, I have an inner voice, and yes, I do talk to it.
Suddenly I feel the impact of a soft square cushion hitting me in the face, bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Hey," I exclaim, "what was that for ?!?" Kat gives me an innocent look and says, "You zoned out." I look over at Josh who puts his hands up and says smiling, “It was all her!'
