Those Eyes

Chapter 4: It's Like You Were BFFLs

Dedicated to @floppylego for keeping me going and sympathising with the writers block I endured and showing how much she loves me and for being such an amazing writer- your work is a drug for me! x

Josh's PoV

I honestly can't believe it. The girl I dreamt of all those nights, the girl who I dreamt of just last night, is standing in front of me. I know what you're thinking, I mean come on, I only saw her once when I was 8, but her eyes... they the just so unique and beautiful. After a while I realise that I'm staring at her, which is probably making her feel really uncomfortable.

"Uh, hi." Smooth Josh, smooth.

"Umm, hey," she says as awkwardly as I did. We just stay in the positions we're in as we just fiddle around with our fingers. Finally I build up the courage to say something else.

I stick my hand out and introduce myself, "I'm Josh, Josh Hutcherson." Thankfully she takes it and introduces herself as well.

"I'm Jennifer Lawrence, but you can call me Jen." I look at her and we both smile, bringing a little comfort to this empty room.

"Hey, take a seat. I assure you these seats are the best in the whole school," I say after realising she was still standing up. She looks at me with an amused smile, probably at the weird comment, but then it changes to one of pleasure.

"Dude, you were right, these are AMAZING!" I laugh at her reaction.

"Told ya! So Jen, where are you from?" I already knew the answer, but it’s kind of reassurance, if you get what I mean.

"I'm from Louisville, Kentucky."

I'm definitely assured that this is my Jen.

"I'm from Kentucky as well! I used to live in a small town called Union, and my Aunty and Uncle used to live in Louisville." A smile of disbelief crosses her face.

"No way! You don't seem like you're from Kentucky; you don't have an accent!"

"Well, I could say the same for you! I mean, I've lived here for 7 years now, but you've lived there for all your life, right?" She laughs a little and nods her head.

"Fine, I agree, 'kay? I should have an accent and you don't need an accent to be from Kentucky- happy?" I nod my head like a little kid as a joke.

We keep our conversation going, jumping from random topic to topic. We're so immersed in conversation that we don't hear anyone come in.

"Eh-hem," I hear someone clear their throat in an 'excuse me I'm here' kind of way. I look up and smile, before finding myself attacked in hugs, which I reciprocate.

"Hey guys," I say pulling apart from the hug and ruffling their hair.

"God Josh, you just have to always ruffle our hair, don't ya?" I laugh and reply, "Yes, yes I do!" I look towards Jen and realise that she hasn't a clue who they are.

"Jen," I address her, "this is Willow, and this is Amandla. They're like my little sisters." She smiles at them, before she gets attacked in hugs, which she grins at. When they pull back, Willow apologises and says with a sheepish grin on her face, "we're huggers."

"Guys, this is Jennifer, she's new to the school."

"If we knew you weren't in this group in the morning, I wouldn't have guessed you were new," Amandla comments, " you and Josh look like you've been best friends for years! You guys haven't met each other though, have you?"
