"No, it's all perfect"
Kihyun:
At last, the uncomfortable ride with Changkyun was over. Spending time with him made me more and more anxious to get out of his company.
I hated that it had come to this, that our relationship had grown so distant after so many years spent together. It wasn't how it was supposed to be, but unfortunately, it was so.
And I can regretfully say that I had no real intent in fixing it.
So, for now, I tried to appear hospitable. I placed a happy and welcoming smile on my face for his sake. I didn't know what he wanted.
However, at last, I had to put up the facade no longer. We had arrived.
Lifting our bikes onto the grass, we placed them behind the shrubbery, where they wouldn't be seen in the darkness. They were also close enough to the warehouse that we could access them quickly if needed.
The warehouse itself looked foreboding and gloomy. Large and made of dark metal, it had a scarce amount of windows inside. Debris and junk lay strewn haphazardly around the property and the entire area had a foul odor. Being in the middle of the forest, only accessible by a hidden dirt track, it seemed like the perfect place to commit murder.
In short, the perfect place for Wonho to be hiding.
Making sure to pick my bag of flowers from my bike basket, I approached a rusted, metallic door. Hesitatingly, I knocked three times, the knocks creating a deep vibration in the structure.
For a while, no one answered. Giving Changkyun a strange look, I debated whether or not I should turn back and forget this whole thing.
However, a voice came from the inside and a familiar face appeared suddenly from a window. It took me a few seconds to even notice the face was there; the window was so dirty.
Wonho, wearing his work apron and silly goggles, gave us a goofy grin and disappeared from the window. Shortly after, there was a loud click from just behind the door, and it suddenly swung open.
"Welcome!" Wonho said, spreading his hands wide.
Cringing as I was reminded of the alley-drug-ring-dealer or whatever you call him, I pushed past him and entered the warehouse, Changkyun close behind me.
The warehouse was so dark and disparagingly empty for its size that I couldn't help but change my mind. It didn't suit Wonho. Not at all.
Gray, black, and brown were the only colors on the filled shelves. Layers of dirt covered the once concrete floor and the windows were either covered in curtains or covered in grime. It was hard to imagine Wonho here wallowing in misery and taking out his frustrations on his dumb machines.
The only colorful item in the room was the machine that looked like it belonged in an arcade.
"So that's it, huh," Changkyun said in a gasp, staring doe-eyed at the game.
Looking like a child in an arcade, he ran towards the machine and began analyzing every detail, paying particular attention to the screen flashing "X" in various colors.
"How did you build this? And so quickly too?" I asked, turning to Wonho.
He looked up from the blueprint he was engrossed with and looked over at the machine.
"Some of the pieces of the machine I had created months before," He said, walking over to it. "Most of the parts didn't really have a purpose until now."
