22: I'll Get Up

"Even if I get kicked down"

"I'll get up"

Changkyun:

Only 10 seconds left to finish Level 3.

This was nearly impossible.

I grit my teeth and pushed my character forwards through the level. I had no time to be cautious about the monsters around me and I recklessly plowed forward.

"Careful Changkyun, careful!" Wonho yelled from behind me.

"I know," I replied, almost brushing straight against a monster.

Under normal circumstances, this level should've been easy to finish within a limit. But the tense atmosphere, the mishap with the pipes, and the everchanging surroundings as a result of the time machine was making it nearly impossible to focus.

Still, I did spend an awful amount of time playing this game. I knew what I was doing.

Hoping over the last monster I landed on the finish line just as the time read, "0:00."

Everyone let out screams of joy and I sighed in relief. I got extremely lucky with that level.

The "Level Cleared" flashed across the screen as the third lightbulb lit up on the top of the machine. The machine made a loud humming noise once more the area around us seemed to shift. This time it was the walls; the concrete walls seemed to bend and twist like a rubber band.

"Focus on your game Changkyun, focus!" Kihyun yelled from across the room.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm focused," I muttered underneath my breath, hitting the "Continue" button.

Level Four was beginning.

Thankfully, I managed to get through it without any hitches. Despite the endless amount of screaming coming from the others and the jelly-like walls that surrounded me, I somehow stayed focused and arrived at the finish line just in time.

This time, the fourth light on the machine turned on. Once again, the machine made a racket as it worked it's magic once more. I watched as Kihyun and Jooheon's faces before me seemed to melt like liquid and reform into their shocked faces.

"W-wonho? Changkyun! Your faces!" Kihyun yelled from across the room. "Oh god, I hate this!"

The noise from the machine was now unbearably loud and it was impossible to hear anything. The humming sound emitting from it almost seemed to make the room vibrate as if it were jello.

"Almost there!" Wonho yelled from behind me. "Changkyun start the next level!"

Hitting "Continue" the screen blinked and changed to the next section.

This was it.

The final level.

Taking a deep breath, I hit start and I began my progress across the screen.

For some reason, this level almost seemed easier than the previous two. There were only a few monsters that crossed my path and there were hardly any obstacles in my way. It seemed easy.

Almost too easy.

"Changkyun, careful with the last part," Wonho warned from behind me. "I can't remember for the life of me what's at the end but I know it isn't good!"

Damn 9-year-old Wonho for filling this game with traps. I should've known that it wouldn't end so simply.

As the finish line appeared in sight, a sudden series of beeping noises sounded from the machine and bright flashes filled it up. Stopping in surprise I waited until the blinding light faded away and paled as I saw what was on the screen.
