Graces P.O.V
I slouched down on the couch, and switched on the tv. I ducked my head under the blanket lying over me.
Avery stood in the kitchen, her blonde waves of hair pulled back from her face, as she put on makeup."Is that my makeup bag? I've told you not to use it," I complained, and her eyes travelled from the mirror to me.
"Grace. I'll wear what I want."
She smeared red lipstick over her lips before placing it down onto the counter.
A question I had thought of came to mind.
"Did you wear makeup when you were with father?"She shut the mirror down onto the counter, and patted a bar stool beside her.
"Come, sit."I was confused as to why she wanted to actually speak to me. She was usually very brief.
"Your father and I used to go out all the time. On our first date, he bought me a lipstick in this shade."
She handed me the lipstick and I admired it.
"You always wear this one."
She smiled, and took it back from my hand."Well yes. I've always loved it."
I nodded, still confused at to why she was speaking to me like this. She seemed happier today than ever."You seem happy lately. What's been going on?" I asked, and she looked up at me.
"Nothing really. I've had minor success in work. It must be that."
I was tempted to bring up the phone call, and how she was out of breath in a peculiar way.
"What about you? Is there any males in your life?"
Harry instantly came to mind, but I stopped myself before I said his name."Yeah. There is somebody actually."
Her eyebrows raised, shock evident on her face.
"And what's this young mans name?"She focused her attention on me, and I froze.
Why did she want to know all of a sudden? Did she know about me and Harry?"Its a boy I met at Sunnyvale. He's called Holland."
She smiled, pleased with me being so open in telling her. Holland was the first name that came to my mouth, but Harry's face was clear in head.
I missed him already. I didn't know how to describe what we were. Friends don't kiss the way we do, and I know that's for sure.
He's supposed to be my therapist, and a carer to support me. But he meant more to me than that, and I think he knew that.
"Holland. Is he from around here?" She asked, tapping her fingernails on the countertop.
"Yeah he is. I think you'd like him actually."
She smiled widely, and stood up, placing her hand on the side of my face."I'm sure I would dear."
She walked away, and dropped her makeup bag on my lap.I watched from my seat, as she walked to the staircase, and put her coat over her shoulders.
"Harold will be here shortly, I will be leaving in a minute."
She swiped her hair out of her eyes, and grabbed her clutch from the banister.
I watched as she moved towards the front door, her keys in hand.
