13 | The sea monster beside me
To wipe that maniacal grin off my face, I slap myself again, this time for real.
Taehyung doesn't even question my actions anymore, why I am hurting myself. Instead, he just shakes his head unbelievingly and murmurs, "Damn it, I had forgotten how crazy you are."
I open my mouth in indignation, shocked about how casually he recalls old times.
"Watch your mouth, young man", I say, crossing my arms truculently, "I am not that crazy."
Taehyung grins, having fun teasing me, "Whatever makes you sleep at night."
As a response, I just shake my head, unsupportive of his statement. Even if wanted to add a sassy reply, I wouldn't be able to because at the very same moment, we arrive at our destination and get out of the subway. Luckily the mini golf hall isn't far from the station, resulting in us standing in front of the black counter with the neon imprint only a few minutes later.
The whole situation probably seems odd to the poor employee; two young adults in formal clothing, Taehyung in a white button down and I in a red dress, wanting to play mini golf 45 minutes before closing hours. Or wait, maybe he doesn't care at all; judging from his eyelids falling down every few seconds.
I look around me. The tracks are set up in a big hall, I think there are ten of them, going up from smaller to higher difficulty. Right now the whole thing doesn't seem that exciting yet. But if I understood Taehyung right, that will change as soon as we get our glasses. Ostensibly, they will transfer us in a parallel universe, each course having its own specific theme.
Not paying attention to what the employee says, I watch Taehyung. He has a black head band wrapped around his head, which probably would have looked peculiar on others. He, on the other hand, totally makes it work.
"-So, here are you glasses. I hope you have fun", the employee says unmotivated. I give him an empathetic, understanding smile. Honestly, I wouldn't be the most excited either if I had to work here on a Saturday night.
"Thank you very much", Taehyung replies politely and turns himself to me, "Come on. Let's play."

Taehyung's idea turned out to be a total disaster.
Let me give you an advice: If you ever get tipsy and are looking for an activity to do, do not play blacklight mini golf. It will wreck your brain and confuse your whole system.
We were just starting the first course, which was paying a visit to the underwater world, when we started to lose our minds already.
"Taehyung", I exclaim panicky, "Where are you?" I am surrounded by popping bubbles and clown fish but there is no sight of the brown haired guy.
When I continue searching for him, there is suddenly a huge sea monster projected to the wall beside me. Surprised by its sudden appearance, I wince so hard I almost fall to the ground. Damn it.
"Sohee?", I hear Taehyung's voice from the other end of the room, "I am here!"
What the hell? How did he managed to get lost before we even started?
"Stay right there!", I shout to him.
"Stay right there!", he screams exactly at the same moment.
