Rayla takes a few deep breaths in, she speaks slowly, still taking in her breath, as she begins to talk.
"I wasn't born on the islan-."
"WAIT WHAT! BUT YOU HAVE THE MARKINGS, YOU ARE NIJÒRN!" She hasn't even finished speaking and I already I know what she is going to say, how is that even possible, if you have the markings you were born here, simple as that. Even if your parents were Nijòrn, they couldn't escape the island in the first place.
"Child, I can hear everything your saying, and I understand your confusion but you have to let me finish my sentence please." Her tone calms me down, I let her speak.
"Please, continue." She speaks on.
"I wasn't born on the island, I was born underground, underneath the island, where only a small colony of angels lived. There, lived my parents, my sister, three elders and two other families with two or three childre-."
"WAIT YOU HAVE A SISTER TO, AND THERES AN UNDERGROUND COLONY!" More shock enters my head, giving me a small migraine. I could swear that she looked like an only child, but NO, she probably has a special powerful sister to and special parents that can go invisible or something...
"Robyn, you must wait for me to finish talking, and I know you will have so many questions, but be patient child." I let out an angry moan as I cross my arms.
"Fine. I'll try not to interrupt." I let her carry on with her story.
"As I was saying, my sister, and my parents were born underneath the island into the colon-."
"Wait up, whats your sisters name?" I can't resist, I have to know. Rayla lets out a annoyed sigh, but still decides to answer my question.
"Her name was Rayven."
"Thats a beautiful name, and it suits you to have a sister start with 'Ray' like you have." Rayla just rolls her eyes at me.
"Rayven is two years older than me, but she looks nothing like me. Instead of having white hair, completely white skin, and white eyebrows and lashes, she was completely black, all her hair and skin as dark as night. Her wings were a deep navy colour and just as large as mine. She was slightly taller too." She inhales a deep breath, and looks to the floor.
"My parents were Nyx and Shiro, they were the best parents a girl could ask for." She pauses for a second as she walks over to a small yet thick book, she turns to a page and brings it over to me. She hands me the book and points to the page, there is a small drawing, a very professional portrait, of what appears to be Rayla, and a very black girl next to her. She was beautiful, with short but very curly and voluminous hair. She has deep navy wings and a navy tunic on. Rayla has longer hair than she currently has, it was still as white, but her wings were a lot smaller.
"Is that your sister? She's beautiful. You both were, and you still are." Rayla goes from white to bright red, turning herself away.
She finally replies with a very small and indefinite "Yes."
"I was thirteen in that picture, it was right before, the attack," sobs left Raylas mouth, she tries to continue on, "when my parents died, and all the other colony members, I... I.... I briefly remember Rayven and I fighting back, with both our powers, we pushed ourselves to the limit." She trudges over to the tap and fills a wooden cup with water.
"Do you mind, but what powers did Rayven have?" If Rayla had special powers then surely Rayven did too?
"She had the orange electricity power, instead of firing in one direction and over a long distance, she could fire multiple directions at once." Rayla sips her cup one last time and places it down onto the dark wooden table. She pointed at another picture in the book, another well draw portrait, of a family, her family.
"Is that you family, you looked so happy." Her smile was huge and her little white teeth shone, her mother held her whilst her father held Rayvens hand.
"My mother and father were both your average skin tone, only a few shades darker than you, both with dark blonde hair, and crisp white wings. We were a total shock for them." She chuckles at that thought. She flips to the next page, and stuck on it, is a flower, extremely well preserved.
"Why the flower, how is it so alive?"
"It was my mothers favourite flower, a Silent Princess, they only grow in caves, and at night they glow a vibrant blue colour, and it is said sometimes they even sparkle a little. It is so alive because I only just found one last week, I left my hut and went out hunting. I came across the strange cave, with vines all over. I entered to see a mass of these glowing flowers, so I took one, along with the roots, and with some sap, I stuck it to the paper. I had not seen these flowers since, the colony."
"Oh, it looks beautiful, what a lovely flower. I've never seen a flower like this in my entire life. And I've never been so fascinated by a flower before." I take my time to study the flower, it is a work of art. The one thing I now want to ask Rayla is, how their colony survived for so long, and why were the underground?
"Uh, Rayla? Can I ask you a slightly personal question?"
"Anything Robyn." She glances over at me and nods her head.
"How, Rayla, HOW? How did your people survive for so long, and most importantly... Why were you underground?" My heart races as I wait for a response. I need answers, and now!
RAYLAS P.O.V
"Uh, Rayla? Can I ask you a slightly personal question?" Im in utter shock from Robyns question, I can feel her, and she wants answers.
"Anything Robyn." I respond.
"How, Rayla, HOW? How did your people survive for so long, and most importantly... Why were you underground?" I feel my heart race, I am not ready for a question like that, not yet, not ever! I refuse to answer.
"You don't need that information yet Robyn, keep your thoughts to yourself for now. I'm going for a walk, I'll be back. Soon." I don't even look, I need to clear my head, so I just leave.
