Paige turned around, a smile suddenly plastered to her face. She smiled a highpitched "Hi" came from her mouth. She sounded joyful. The girl smiled at her and came closer to her and touched Paige's arms. "How are you doing Paige?" The girl smiled.
"Good good!" Paige smiled with a laugh. Shawn awkwardly had moved next to her.
"Also I'm so sorry that I was bugging you last week about everything, I was just really tired and stressed." Paige said.
"No no it's totally fine! I'm here for you! Always be your shoulder to cry on!" The girl smiled holding Paige lightly with both her arms. Paige nodded. "Do you want to get a drink with me?" The girl asked.
"Shawn and I were actually about to go dance! Sorry!" Paige smiled grabbing Shawn's arms and pulling him to the dance floor. The girl was left confused but unfazed by Paige's behavior. The girl thought, that's just how Paige is, always smiley always happy to see you...I wish I was like her.
Paig and Shawn we're finally on the dance floor. Paige's face fell, the smile gone.
It's funny how quickly someone's smile can disappear.
"Hey, are you okay?" Shawn asked. "Yeah yeah I'm fine." Paige reassured. Shawn nodded not truly believing her but not wanting to pry. "Let's dance." Paige loudly said looking up at him. He grinned.
"I have to warn you though, I'm an amazing dancer."
Paige raised her eyebrows in disbelief.
Shawn smiled at her wiggling his eyebrows at her. She rolled her eyes at him and slightly shoved him. Paige was not a "dancer" in any way. She and Shawn looked like grandparents who were trying to be cool while they  danced. Shawn did the sprinkler dance move and Paige glared at him. A laugh escaped her mouth and Shawn grinned. Making Paige smile was  like a game to Shawn. The "can you make Paige smile" game. At this point he was winning he had thought. He mentally added the points up (just from the party) and he was at a whooping 3 points.
"What are you thinking about?" Paige asked rather loudly trying to speak over the music like she had done earlier in the conversation.
"That we should find some snacks"
"Umm do you think they even have snacks here?"
"Ehh I guess we gotta check." Shawn said close to her ear. Paige smiled and nodded her head. They shoved their ways out from the cluster of warm bodies. They got some glare from some people when they shoved by. They finally made it out from the warmth of the dancing people and into the dimly lit hallway.
"Oh wow we're in a hallway all alone." Paige jokingly said wiggling her eyebrows and smirking. She smiled at Shawn who suddenly looked taller now that they were closer. Shawn was about to reply when he heard a low rumble of laughter. Paige and Shawn both peered down the hallway.
"Ugh the lacrosse team." Paige rolled her eyes though she had a light smile on her lips. She and Shawn moved to the the wall. They had been awkwardly standing in the middle of the hallway after leaving the "dance" room. Shawn followed Paige and they leaned up against the wall. One of the guys voice was louder then the others. The sides of Paige's mouth turned into a smile and she got off the wall and started to walk straight towards the team. The guys didn't bat an eye at Paige's appearance most of them just nodded at her which surprised Paige. Usually the guys were more energized after having a drink or two. She pushed away her thoughts of the unsmiling boys and saw the one she was looking for. His tall lean figure stood out against the other guys. His dirty blonde hair, that would probably turn fully brown give in take a couple years, stood out against the dark hallway. Paige's heart speed up and she smiled. He had been gone most of spring break and had gotten of school two weeks prior to that to do business stuff with his grandpa. He saw her and caught her eye and greeted her with a nod of a chin.
"Oh my gosh you've been gone for a month and that's all you do?" Paige said raising her eyebrow jokingly.
"What do you want me to do then?" He asked smirking.
Paige tilted her head and shook her head. She walked up to him and hugged his torso. He awkwardly placed his hands on her shoulders, he was an awkward size to hug.
"Jake, you're killin me." Paige said stepping back and raising her eyebrows. She turned to Shawn, remembering he was in the hallway too. She beckoned him over. He obliged, awkwardly coming to Paige's side.

"This is Shawn." Paige said motioning to him. "And this is Jake." She nodded to Jake. Shawn nodded his head and reached out and did that "bro" hand shake thing. Paige raised her eyebrows, smiling at the awkward encounter.

"Do you wanna dance?" Paige asked. She smiled at Jake. He slowly shook his head Paige's face dropped a little though no one could truly tell. He whispered something to her that Shawn couldn't hear. Paige nodded, a worried expression played out her face and she whispered back. "Are you heading home? Do you need someone to drive you? I can. I can bring your car back tomorrow morning." Shawn heard this part and slowly stepped back knowing it'd be rude to ease drop.

"No no i'm good and if not one of the guys can," Jake assured her, "Plus if you took me you wouldn't get to hangout with Shawn." He added pointedly looking towards Shawn who stood there awkwardly trying to heard not listen to their conversation.

"Oh my gosh." She rolled her eyes and eventually sighed, "I'm coming over tomorrow."

Jake's jaw tightened and he said quite sternly "I don't like people seeing me like this."

"I have to get back to Shawn but I'll call you tonight and hopefully see you tomorrow. We can just watch movies and have a chill day." Paige replied, giving him a lite hug. "Stay safe okay?" She said looking up at him. He nodded not meeting her eyes and walked past her and then Shawn.

Paige walked over to Shawn giving him a small smile.

"What was that about?" Shawn asked.

"Ohh nothing...Now where were we?"

"We were in a hallway alone...and we were trying to find snacks." He said smirking at the first part which made Paige fake roll her eyes.

"Ahh yes the snacks." Paige thought for a moment. "I guess we have to make our way back to the kitchen." she sighed peering into the crowded room. "Why didn't we think to go back to the kitchen." She asked.

Shawn shrugged.

And so the two walked back to the kitchen through the dancing couples.
