The school day went by fast and slowly at the same time. She talked to a couple of her school friends. They were more acquaintances then friends though.
She looked out for Shawn during her lunch period but couldn't find him. He must not have lunch at that time.
Paige used to have a lot of "friends." But sophomore year she decided to drop the act. Apparently people didn't gravitate forwards people who weren't visibly happy. Paige as a person confused the people who saw her "change." How she spoke and how she reacted was enthusiastic but under all that was a confusing mess.
Paige had decided that she wasn't one of those people who wanted to have millions of friends. She only wanted a couple friends who weren't fake. She'd rather have one or two friends who were real and cared about her then 6 friends who didn't really know her.
Paige was totally fine with not really having any friends besides Jake and maybe even Shawn. She didn't mind it at all. She rather liked it. She was a total introvert but had an extroverted energy when she was with people who she connected with and cared for.
And she only wanted to put her time and energy into people who'd do the same and actually liked her personality.
There was something about Shawn that made her be herself and open up, something that took her half a year with Jake. She usually never acted like how she did when she first met him. Maybe it was because they were both vulnerable sitting on the bleacher together.

Paige gathered her textbooks from her locker and put them back in her backpack. She proceeded to the school bus. Her eyes scanned the parking lot for Shawn's car wondering if he had left yet to get his hockey gear. She made her way on to the soon to be packed bus. She slid into one of the seats, plugged in her earbuds, and put her playlist on shuffle.
Her phone buzzed and she looked at the text.
Shawn: where are you? I wanted to say bye :(
Paige quickly responded.
Paige: aww I'm sorry. I was looking for you but I had to catch the bus :/ I'm sorry I wanted to say bye too
She hit send. A few seconds later and her phone buzzed again.
Shawn: hmm maybe I could see you tonight?
She read it and thought for a minute. Her phone buzzed again.

Shawn: I mean we don't have to like id be happy just to see you tomorrow at school.
Shawn frantically wrote before heading on the ice. He wanted to check his phone but he knew his coach would probably yell at him for having it out on the ice. He shoved down all his thoughts about Paige and skated around the rink, warming up.

Paige: hmm I'd loved to but I don't think I can... I told jake that I'd hang out. But idk how long I'll stay so I'll let you know. How flexible are you with the time?
Paige very much wanted to hangout with Shawn but she didn't want to be a flake towards Jake.
She quickly texted Jake asking what time l she should swing bye.
Today was the day she was gonna ask for her license back she hadn't had it for about two weeks and she actually didn't really care that her mom had taken it. She was saving money by taking the bus. Since her mom had taken her license she had to drive Paige to work so it kind of back fired.
She had work tomorrow so that would be her excuse for getting it back today. She had her own car, she bought it over the summer. She had babysat almost everyday that summer and last school year she worked a lot too.
The bus came to a stop and she quickly got off and walked to her house. She got inside, took off her shoes, and went upstairs flinging herself on Kats bed. She had about an hour until the kids came home so she's use that hour to rest. She set her timer for 50 minutes and laid there and tried to sleep. But sleep never came and the alarm went off. Paige groaned searching for her phone. She finally found it shut the horrid think off. She quickly got up and changed into a pair of sweatpants and fuzzy socks. She slipped on her slippers. She trapped the wireless speaker and head down stairs. She turned on music she knew her younger siblings could listen to and began to cook. She put on a pot of water for pasta and called Kat.
"Hey Kat where are you?" Paige asked once Kat picked up.
"I'm out shopping with dad."
"Oh when are you guys gonna be here?"
"Umm I don't know like an hour or two." Kat said.
"Oh okay well I was gonna head over to jakes to check in on him and I don't want the kids to be home alone." Paige said, anxiously tapping the counter.
"Oh okay well umm you'll just have to wait we're like 30 minutes from home."
"Ugh" Paige groaned. "What are you guys even doing."
"We're thrifting!" Paige could hear the smile in Kats voice. Kat and her dad always loved going shopping together especially thrift shopping.
"Okay have fun. Try to come back sooner rather than later."
"Okay bye!"
Paige hung up. She went upstairs to get her homework. She came back down quickly due to hearing knocks on the door. She opened it up.
"Hi guys!" Paige said opening the door.
