Chapter 8: A Date?

"Shawn? Hey!" Paige smiled wondering if she should hug him or not.
Shawn himself looked surprised and confused. He stayed behind Brian and waved at Paige with a smile. "Seems like we keep bumping into each other." Shawn chuckled.
"And I'm glad we are." Paige grinned. "Come on in." Paige motioned them to come inside.
"One sec let me get Kat." Paige ran up there stairs suddenly rethinking what she was wearing. "Kat they're here!" Paige yelled into her room.
"Awesome!" Kat exclaimed while walking out of the room. Paige motioned her to the bottom of the steps. Their sat brain on the kitchen stool and Shawn stood looking suddenly awkward, towering over Brian as he sat. Brian stood seeing his girlfriend and grinned from ear to ear. Kat smiled and walked down the steps. She and Brian embraced for what seemed forever as Shawn and Paige stood there awkwardly. It seems what would have been a third wheel had now turned into a fourth wheel.
"Sooooo." Paige dragged out the word hopping it would interrupt Brian and Kat's long hug. Thankfully for Paige it worked. Brian and Kat were both blushing.
"Gross I hate love." Paige said flatly not truly meaning it. Brian laughed. "Well he's your date so don't hate it for tonight."
Paige raised an eyebrow towards Kat and Brian. "You didn't."
"We did." They both laughed.
Paige groaned and turned towards Shawn. "Shawn I love you and all but I did not agree to this."
Shawn sighed, "yeah I didn't agree to this either."
"What?" Paige asked, confused.
"Well now that I see who Brian is trying to set me up with, I want out." He teased sliding his hands in his pockets.
"HEYYY!" Paige ran towards Shawn but he was to quick and was out the door before Paige could tackle him.

Paige and Shawn sat in the back row while Kat and Brian sat in the front. They both had no clue how this had happened. Paige was the first to speak. "We're going out as friends?" S
Shawn nodded.
"I still can't believe you guys!!" Paige exclaimed glaring at the people in the front. "Jokes on you we know each other." She added crossing her arms.
Shawn laughed at her childish pose and continued looking out the window. He fidgeted with his sleeves. He was getting a little antsy wondering how this night would go. Brian told him that he had set him up with his girlfriends younger sister which Shawn was very opposed to but he didn't want to let Brian down. When Shawn saw it was Paige his inside got all jumpy. He was glad that she didn't want to go on a date with him, he wanted to take it slow and get to know her.
"Shawnnnnn."
He turned hearing his name he met eyes with Paige and saw the curiosity that filled hers.
Paige smiled at him, she looked down at her hands then looked back at him. "Your not a very good listener." She said litely.
"Sorry." He smiled. "I'm such a horrible 'date," he joked. Paige shoved his arm, "You're killin me."
"What were you saying?" He asked turning towards Paige.
"Ehhh nothin important." She stated ending her sentence with a small smile. Shawn raised his eyebrow.
"I'm sure it was."
"I was just asking if you were excited to go to the party." She shrugged.
"That's important." Shawn pointed out. "And to answer your question honestly... not really."
"Sameeeee." Paige responded rather brightly putting her hand out for a high five. Shawn smiled and gave her a highfive.
"But at least we have each other." Paige added. She wondered if she should have said that they literally had just met a day ago. There was just something about him and his vibe as hippy as that sounded.
"True." Shawn smiled and looked out the window.
Paige didn't know what to say for once she was speechless and so the back seat sat without talking. The front seat on the other hand were chattering cheerfully not noticing the quietness that radiated from the back.
Shawn's heart was beating fast.
He didn't know what to say but he wanted to talk to her.
"Shawn?"
"Yeah?"
"I don't know it's just uhh I wanted to talk to you."
He chuckled, "I'm flattered." Paige scrunched up her eyes, "Oh my gosh." She laughed.
"What?" Shawn asked with a small smile.
"You know what," Paige grinned, tilting her head as she spoke.
"No I don't." He said slyly. Innocently looking at her. She was about to reply but was interrupted.
"Just get married already!" Brian yelled, grinning at them. Paige rolled her eyes, "Shut up and drive, Brian."
"Denial's just admitting it." Kat smirked.
Paige's neck suddenly felt hot. She turned to the window and grumbled something under her breath.
"What was that honey?" Shawn breathed. Paige turned to him her face noticeably pink. The whole car erupted into laughter, Shawn included.
"I'm just messing with you," Shawn grinned. Paige wacked his shoulder.
"Don't hurt yourself."
Paige grumbled again under her breath. Shawn laughed at her nudging her shoulder lightly. She smiled out the window, not wanting him to see how bright her smile was. He himself smiled at her wondering why she had turned her body away from him. His face fell and the car went back to silence with the two in the back turned away from each other and staring out the window.
