This has half of "from a cradle to a grave" in it due to me having to cut it short, I will separate the two in this chapter

"Skylar?" Elijah looks to me as I walk in, seeking out my baby. "Where is she?" I ask, looking around.

As if on cue, I hear the soft murmur of a baby's voice coming from upstairs. Immediately, I head up the stairs and over to my room.
"She's in the nursery, Love."   Klaus explains.

I nod and head through the doors, finding her laying in the cradle. I smile and gently pick her up, feeling like the happiest girl in the world.

"I don't know what I would have done if you didn't come back." He admits. "I'm here now, so it's ok." I smile.

"I was haunted by the ghost of you. Your very essence lingered around me and I wasn't sure I'd get through it." He shakes his head.

"Well you don't have to wonder anymore, because I'm here and I'm not going anywhere." I assure him.

Hours later, I'm peacefully sitting in the rocking chair, holding my beautiful baby.

In the other room, Klaus and Elijah talk in hushed tones.

"I don't want my child to carry the same enemies we do, brother. And the worst of them are within these boarders. She's inherited our enemies with non of the defenses." Klaus explains.

"So we condemn her whether we stay or we leave." Elijah shakes his head.

I stand up and walk in, having an idea pop into my head.

"There is a third option," I start. "I grew up in a war zone. My parents thought they could protect me and Hayley, but in the end they were slaughtered and I spent my childhood alone and unloved." I state, looking down at her.

Tears fill my eyes as I look her over. "I made a promise to my baby and to myself; that she would not grow up like I did. That she would grow up safe and loved. And yet here she is on her second day in this world, and a grandmother that is bent on sacrificing her, and a mother who had to be spelled against nature to survive." I cry.

Slowly, I blink the tears out of my eyes, before continuing my statement. "I think the only thing to do is send her away while we stay behind, and clean up the mess we've made." I sniffle at the thought.

I watch as Klaus drifts deep into thought, and Elijah stands up. "No, this is insane. Genevieve said that so long as she lives, that baby will be hunted." Elijah protests, pointing at Klaus, who then stands up.

He walks toward me and places an arm around my waist, easing my tension a bit.

"Not if no one knows she lives." Klaus states. "What is it that you intend to do, brother?" Elijah asks, confusion written all over his face. "Whatever it takes to save our family." He explains gravely.

"Did Marcel follow
through?" I ask, walking in. "Yeah, she'll be safe." Klaus explains, sitting beside me. "I know you're feeling hopeless right now," Klaus starts, looking up to meet my gaze. "Hopeless is one word for it." I let out a dry chuckle, running my hands through my hair.

He sighs, gripping my hand to hold his, causing us both to look into each other's eyes. "I'll protect you and our baby, always." He promises. I nod and look at the ground. "Believe me when I tell you that they will all pay for pushing us to this." He states, causing me to look back into those blue eyes. "I believe you." I breathe out.

"So What now?" I ask. "Now we wait until it's safe to bring our daughter home." He smiles sadly.

"It's like this hole is in me. I miss her so much, I've hardly been able to see her and she's already almost been killed." I sigh. "You'll get her back, love. And when she returns, I'll make sure nothing like this ever happens to us or to our daughter again." He promises.

"Thank you." I smile sadly, taking a look at the space in the house. It feels so empty without her, but I know and trust that Klaus will keep true to his promises.
