Chapter 14- She's a Fighter

Santana was at the coffee shop on campus with Quinn. She was talking about what happened with Dani the other day and then what went down with Brittany earlier that morning. All of a sudden she felt her phone buzzing in her back pocket of her dark blue joggers. Santana pulled it out and clicked the answer button. Quinn took a sip of coffee while Santana was on the phone.
"Yes this is Santana Lopez."she answered in a soft voice.
"Yes I know a Brittany S. Pierce." Santana said still a little confused. Once Quinn heard Brittany's name she looked up at Santana.
"Oh my god! Ok I will be right there." Santana said getting up and gathering her stuff.
"Santana what is going on?" Quinn asked getting up with her.
"Brittany was in an accident." Santana said as she rushed out of the coffee shop.
"I will meet you there!" Quinn said as Santana continued to run to the hospital. Quinn ran to NYADA and walked into Kurt's class and stood in the doorway as his teacher walked over to Quinn and whispered in her ear that she need to speak to Kurt alone.
"Kurt you friend needs to speak to you." his teacher said to him. Kurt looked up at and saw the look on Quinn's face and got so nervous. They stepped into the hall and started walking towards Rachel's class.
"What is going on Quinn and why did you have to pull me out of class." Kurt asked walking behind her.
"Britts been in an accident. I don't know what happened but we have to get to the hospital. Santana is already there so we will meet her there." Quinn explained as they started to run to Rachel's dance class. Rachel was on the bars doing pliés when she heard her name being called by two familiar voices. She turned at the doorway and saw Quinn and Rachel in the doorway. Kurt filled Rachel in and they got a taxi and headed straight for the hospital. When they got in they opened the door to the waiting room and saw Santana was still there pacing. She saw them and greeted them by hugging everyone of them.
"Thank you guys for coming. I have no idea what is going on they won't let me into the room with her because I am not family." Santana said hugging all of them. After 30 minutes a doctor opened the doors and came out.
"Who is here for Brittany S. Pierce?"the doctor called out for everyone to hear.
"We are."Rachel said as everyone got up. "What happened?" Quinn added.
"A taxi driver was texting and driving and saw that Brittany was in his path so he slammed on the breaks and swerved. The car kept going and hit Brittany's left leg. Her left leg is broken and when she fell she also hit her head on the ground. She got a mild concussion but she will be ok. She hit her head pretty hard so she is still unconscious. You can go see her she is the 5th room on the right."the doctor informed them. Everyone took off except for Rachel who stayed back with the doctor.
"Doctor will she ever dance again? If so how long will it take for it it heal?" Rachel asked before the doctor had a chance to walk away.
"Well we don't know. It was a very serious break so it depends on if the bone heals properly. And we are not sure how long it will take for her bone to heal. Since everyone is different everyone's bones heals differently. Some will heal fast some not so much. She will have crutches to get around on so she won't miss out."the doctor said walking away as Rachel was still trying to process what the doctor had said. Rachel found her way to Brittany's room and saw that Santana was sitting right beside her and everyone else was in chairs scattered over the room. Rachel walked in and said that she had bad news. Rachel told everyone what the doctor had just told her.
"I don't care as long as she is alive I am satisfied." Santana said now standing tucking a piece of Brittany's hair behind her ear.

It has been 4 hours and Brittany hasn't woken up yet. Everyone was hungry so they took turns staying in the room with Brittany. After everyone ate Kurt was asleep on the couch and Rachel was asleep in the chair. Quinn went to go get her and Santana some coffee from the cafeteria.
"Here." Quinn said handing her the cup of coffee. Santana took it and sat down on the couch next to Brittany's bed.
"Do you think that she will every wake up?" Santana asked looking at Brittany and not taking her eyes off of her.
"She is a fighter. She is going to pull through." Quinn said slightly nodding her head.
"She has been fighting her whole life. She has fought through the everything this world thrown at her. She even gets into a fight with Lord Tubbington every other week. What if she doesn't have anymore fight in her? What if this was the last thing that the world could throw at her and she can't fight her way through this one?" Santana said looking down at her coffee and crying. "The last thing that I talked her about was another girl that hit on me. The last time I kissed her was this morning on her forehead before I left for my run. I can't lose the one in my life that loved me unconditionally,the person that always made me smile, the person that made it impossible to stay mad at them, the perfect thing in my life. I can't do it." Santana said looking at Brittany just hoping that she could wake up at any minute. Quinn just let Santana cry it out on her shoulder and just comforted her because she knew this is being really hard on Santana.
"Never."a soft voice spoke just above a whisper. Santana lifted her head off if Quinn's shoulder and saw Brittany looking at her with that same goofy smile.
"Brittany!" Santana screamed and jumped up and hugged Brittany. Kurt and Rachel woke up and saw Brittany was awake. They all greeted her with hugs. The doctor came in and told Brittany that her leg was broken and that she would be on crutches for a while. As the doctor left Quinn explained what happened to her and why she was in the hospital. While Santana was filling out paperwork, Quinn went to go get Brittany some fresh cloths, and Kurt went to get coffee,and Rachel was talking about a audition she got for Funny Girl next week and was super excited.
"She just woke up hobbit she doesn't need you giving her a headache. Since you have a mild concussion certain things are going to give you headaches like bright lights, too much commotion, Berry's voice. So the doctor prescribed you these for the headaches. You take one after eating and then chase it with a drink." Santana said showing her the bottle of pills and put them in her purse.
"Where is Lady Hummel?" Santana asked.
"Kurt went to get some coffee." Rachel said. Quinn walked into the room and saw everyone (except for Kurt) talking with Brittany.
"Brittany all you have to do is get dressed and you can go home." Quinn said handing her a pair of light blue denim shorts and a hot pink shirt with a cat on it.
"But I don't wanna go home how about we go get dinner, I am starving." Brittany suggested.
"How about we get take out and you can come over to our place and we can eat their pop in a movie, I will even buy dessert from this bakery that I have been to." Kurt suggested. Brittany nodded her head up and down really fast and a smile grew across her face.
"Ok now get out because now I am really hungry. So now I need to get dressed." Brittany said as everyone made their way out of the room and into the hallway closing to door behind them. Kurt and Rachel left to go get food while Santana and Quinn stayed with Brittany. Santana knocked on the door and saw that Brittany was dressed and ready to go. Quinn saw Brittany ready to go so she rushed to get her crutches and so they could get out of there. Brittany started of slow but by the time they got out of the hospital she got the hang of it. They called a taxi and headed to Quinn and Rachel's apartment. They had a great rest of the night they watched a movie had dessert and talked and laughed it couldn't get any better than this. Getting to their apartment was a little difficult but she would get used to it. That next day things were a little difficult but then she was got the hang of it. Santana had work and her a Brittany was going to have to lunch but first she had to handle something that she never got to do. That morning Brittany went with Santana to work.
"Which on is Dani?" Brittany asked. Santana pointed her out. Brittany nodded her head and started for her and sat down right in front of where she was standing.
"Hi how may I help you?" Dani asked politely.
"Black coffee for now." Brittany said in her normal voice.
"If you don't mind me asking but what happened?" Dani asked still being polite.
"Well I was on my way to confront someone because they tried to steal my girlfriend when I got in a accident." Brittany explained.
"Hey babe." Santana said walking up from behind and wrapping her arms around her and kissing her on the cheek.
"This is you girlfriend?" Dani asked shocked.
"Yeah. You know you said that you would die for me, Brittany literally almost died for me. As far as I am concerned there isn't anything big enough that you can give to me. Sorry Dani but I love Brittany she is my one and only." Santana said still holding her. Another waitress handed Brittany her cup of coffee. Brittany took a sip of coffee and spit it back out.
"Still don't like coffee. Anyways I get that you work together but just know that you can't have her. Santana Lopez is mine." Brittany said kissing Santana on the cheek and turning around and setting up her crutches and walking out of the diner. Santana watched Brittany walk out of the diner and looked back at Dani and saw she still had her mouth wide open. Santana got to work so that she get more tips so her and Britt will have enough money for Brittany's physical therapy that starts after she gets her cast taken off.
