Tall with broad shoulders
Almost larger than life
That is what he was
He had me thinking of a tree
With his roots firmly planted on the ground on which he tread
He had eyes as black as night
With the same absorptive power as a winter's night
Never had I experienced such power
With a look he had my attention
I felt a powerful kick in the pit of my stomach
I lost my balance
Only to fall into his arms
Dazed, I looked up into those eyes
Which were momentarily filled with humour
Then I realised he was still holding me up
In my mind's eye I saw the absurdity of this situation,
But was too tongue tied to say anything
I regained my footing with as much dignity as possible
I turned to walk away when I was stopped by the hand on my shoulder
I turned around only to be hit by a beautiful smile
It seemed too perfect: beautiful smile, beautiful eyes, tall and sensible
I tried to find a flaw
If you look hard enough you will find it
He was perfect, but someone else's perfect
