Praised for making it through apartheid
Praised for adopting democracy
Praised for joining the races under one banner
The Rainbow Nation
We are known as the miracle nation
We are used as an example for other African nations
We are placed on a pedestal
We are even scared to look for the faults within this miracle
Because we are The Rainbow Nation
If you happen to mention the past
If you happen to mention the problems we are currently facing
If you happen to complain about life in our country
If you happen to complain about our government,
You are either a racist or you don't know a good thing when you see it
Nothing bad ever happens in this country because we are

We have managed to fool ourselves into believing
This is as good as it gets
We need to get our heads out of the sand
Look around us and find ways to help
And maybe one day we will have the right to brag about
