Chapter 33: Gone

*Kim Seokjin's POV*

As soon as I heard the door slam shut, I leaned on the cabinet door with relief—then fell through.

"Hyung!" Jungkook called as he jogged towards me.

"Are you okay?" He helped me up.

I winced in response.

"I'll be ok."

We both looked at my phone, the recording. We had done it.

I grinned at him, "Let's go tell the others."

He nodded with a warm smile.

As we made sure Hanwoo wasn't around, we escaped the staff room. I realised Jungkook had slowed down.

"Kook-ah?" I turned back.

He seemed to be conflicted, then took a step back.

"Uh, you go on and tell the others, I have to go somewhere," was all he said before he swung around and took off.

"This kid," I muttered.

I continued running towards the lunch room, since everyone else was heading that way I wouldn't look weird.

It's 8:15 pm.

I pushed the doors aside and sprinted towards Nurse Jun-sang as soon when I spotted her.

"Woah, woah, calm down there," she started as I skidded to a halt.

My hands rested on my knees, I was panting heavily.

My other hand held up my phone containing the recording.

"We did it flawlessly," I smiled.

Her eyes grew wide and she bit back her smile, snatching my phone off my hand.

She ushered Nurse Taeah and Jimin to the kitchen, we still had a few minutes before dinner.

Nurse Misung and Hoseok were missing.

Namjoon. Where's Namjoon?

I told myself they'll all be here in a bit, but for now we should listen to the recording.

We locked the kitchen door, the shutter too.

Dishes were stacked against the closed shutter. We all crowded around Jusang who propped herself up against the counter and pressed play.

*Jeon Jungkook's POV*

As Seokjin Hyung and I made our way to the lunch room, the realisation suddenly hit me and the happiness faded.

I ran in the other direction.

Why?

Hoseok Hyung.

We hadn't seen him since this morning.

Where is he? And after what Hanwoo told me, I'm even more terrified of the consequences.

What happened to him?

I ran towards his dorm, I saw that the blinds in Jimin's room were open and he wasn't there.

When I opened Hoseok Hyung's room, it was also empty.

I groaned in frustration.

Maybe something did happen to him...

Pills. Pills, they could've effected him. Slow poison..

I didn't think twice before running once again, but this time to the infirmary.

Please be there, please be there, please be t—

And he was.

He lay perfectly still on the stretcher, his skin glistened with sweat, his Adam's apple bobbed up and down, his eyes twitched while being closed as if he was having a nightmare.

He was having trouble breathing, he was in pain.

Nurse Misung was scrambling through the cupboards and cabinets, searching for something or some sort of medicine.

Jimin was holding Hoseok Hyung's hand, he clenched it so tight to the point where his knuckles turned white.

He was sobbing silently.

"Please be okay," I heard him whisper under his breath.

Why don't the others know what is happening?

Is Namjoon Hyung on his way to tell them?

Where's Namjoon?

I walked in, but no one noticed.

I sat down next to him, a single tear rolled down my face. I looked at Jimin who was sitting directly opposite me. He was heartbroken.

"Hyung...if you can hear me..hang in there. You have a bright future ahead of you," I whispered through tears.

Jimin sniffled.

"You can't just leave us like this Hoseok Hyung...you're stronger than this," was all I could manage to say.

Nurse Misung's walkie talkie made a weird sound and then Taeah's voice could be heard.

"Namjoon told us, we're on our way," is what I made out of the vague message.

Jimin finally looked up.

"Hoseok-ah...remember what you told me? You told me that, we..w-we come in this world, to make someone else happy," he cried.

"You made me he happiest person on this planet. I want to make you happy too...please stay with me. Please say with us."

Soon, the room was crowded as the others ran in.

Nurse Misung failed to find anything that could help him. The ambulance was on its way, but it hadn't made its way here fast enough.

Everyone tried speaking to him, but he answered no one.

Maybe he was in too much pain.

Maybe he couldn't bear to speak.

Maybe all he could do was listen.

And soon, we heard the dreadful and never ending noise. We smelt the horror. We could all taste the metal-like thing on the roofs of our mouth, fear.

We could feel that there was one person breathing in this room.

Seokjin spoke through the dead silence.

"18 February, Jung Hoseok."

At this point none of us cared for the date.

Jimin didn't speak. No one did.

We just let the ear piercing sound of his flat heart rate sink into us.

Hoseok Hyung, is no long with us.

He's gone.

It was that moment, that I lost a piece of myself.

I lost one of my brothers.
