----------------------------------
I wake up at the crack of dawn, a half-naked Luke laying beneath me as I carefully peel my body off of his and rise from my position on his bed only wearing his t-shirt and panties after last nights events. I quickly go about gathering all my articles of clothing before taking Luke's shirt off and pulling my own clothes on. By the time I get to my jacket, Luke still isn't awake so I walk out of the bedroom and head towards the living space which has the exit outside.
The crisp morning breeze greets me as I walk down the stairs that lead to the beach, and sit on the bottom step. The waves calmly crash against the sand that has a blue tint to it due to the early morning cloud cover. The cool air around me harshly whips my messed hair all over the place but I deign to fix it, so I allow the blonde strands to lash viciously against my face.
I watch the sun peek its way through a few clouds as its rays meet the surface of the water and cause the waves to sparkle as they roll and crash into one another.
I feel my phone begin to vibrate in my pocket so I pull it out and answer the call without looking at the ID.
"Hey." I say in a quiet and peaceful tone.
"Where are you? Luke's running around crazily wondering where you are." Calum chuckles pitifully as I hear Luke calling out in the background.
I huff out a near silent laugh as I say, "I'm outside. Tell him to come down to the beach if he wants a hug so desperately."
I hear Calum say a few things into the receiver as I then hear Luke respond exasperatedly before the boys begin to laugh at him.
"He's on his way." Calum laughs as I mutter out a 'bye' before ending the call.
I slide the phone back into my pocket before I hear Luke's heavy footsteps walk down the stairs. I don't turn to acknowledge him as I hear the creak of the stairs as he grows closer.
"Shay. I thought you left without saying goodbye." He says quietly, matching the serene scenery around us as he sits down beside me on the step.
"I would never." I reply as I lean into him and rest my head on his broad shoulder.
He huffs out a tired sigh as he mutters, "I love you Shayla."
I'm taken aback by his declaration as he continues and says, "I know you probably don't reciprocate the feeling yet, but I know that I truly love you and last night just proves it. I can't live without you and I need you by me."
I chuckle at the boy beside me as I gently place a kiss on his cheek and say, "I love you too Luke Hemmings."
He now seems shocked as he looks at me and stutters out, "Y-you do? Like... You really do l-love me?"
I giggle and poke his cheek as I say, "Yes Hemmings. I really do love you. As annoying as you are, I couldn't imagine anyone else I'd love to spend forever with."
He smile warmly at me, his blue eyes glistening in the morning sunlight as his curls bounce in the breeze. I lay my head back down on his shoulder as he wraps a comforting arm around my waist and pulls me in closer.
The birds flying over head caw loudly as people begin to run past on their morning jog, not once casting their glance our way as we talk about whatever comes to mind and kiss each other in every spare moment not spent chatting.
