Sorry for the late update! I was busy yesterday.

Ty's POV

I nod. It took a while, but we found a plan and all agreed on it. It's now sundown, and Jerome could be anywhere. Mitch had taken care of Merome when she woke up, but now it's sundown and she's asleep again.

"So, are we ready to carry out the plan?" Adam asks out of nowhere.

"Yeah." Mitch says "Let's go." I smile. This is gonna be fun. We're all heading out the door when I remember something.

"What would happen if Merome woke up while we were out?" I ask. There was silence in reply.

"Would you mind staying with her?" Mitch asks.

"Sure." I say and sit back down on the couch. Mitch smiles.

"Thanks, Ty! I owe you one!" Mitch scratches behind my ears and I roll over on to my back on the floor.

"Meowwwww." I purr. Mitch laughs.

"Bye, Ty!" I wave and they walk out the door. I sit back down on the couch again and grab the tv remote. I made sure the volume was low, so I wouldn't wake Merome. In the middle of a tooth paste comercial, the channel suddenly changed to the news. An amber alert was issued for our area and my thoughts went to Merome.

"Merome?" I call, turning the tv off. I walk down the hall a little bit. "Merome?" I repeat. I peak in Merome's bedroom and find her asleep in her bed. She was all tucked in and looked like a lump under the covers. I smiled. I closed the door and began walking back down the hall.

Merome was safe, and that's all that matters.

Jerome's POV

I want to check in on Mitch and everyone. I knew I shouldn't be near them, but I had to see how my biggums was. I flew up to the window and saw Ty on the couch, his tail slowly flicking back and forth. Maybe Mitch was out. All of a sudden, a cloth obscured my vision and I soon discovered I was in a small cloth bag. I started freaking out, thrashing around and squeaking. Then I heard a childish voice.

"Gotcha, batty!" Merome? What was she doing out of the house??

Suddenly, I heard Ty muffledly call Merome's name from inside. I began to feel tugging and realized Merome was running. I heard shifting, scrambling, then the sound of sheets moving. The door clicked open and, after a moment, clicked shut. Merome sighed.

"That was a close one, batty!" Merome giggled. "If I let you out, will you escape?" I squeaked and Merome let me free. I was now under the covers, and she had a flashlight that was illuminating the small space the covers created.

"What should I name you?" Merome whispered. I knew I couldn't transform, it would freak her out. And if I tried to escape, she'd be heartbroken. I squeaked once more.

"I know, I'll call you Biggums!" Biggums?! "Daddy says 'biggums' in his sleep sometimes, so that's the perfect name!" Mitch... dreams about me?

"Can you do tricks, Biggums?" I squeak and do mid-air flips and Merome quietly claps for me. I smiled and began to do more arial tricks and Merome laughed and giggled.

"I'm going to bed now, Biggums. Good night!" Merome lets me out from under the covers and snuggles up to her pillow. I lay next to her and close my eyes. Just for a rest...

I wake up to the sound of shooing.

"Shoo! Shoo!" Mitch is trying to shoo me off Merome! I go airborne and fly up to the ceiling.

"Daddy! Don't hurt Biggums!" Mitch freezes.

"Biggums?"

"That's his name." She points to me.

"When did you get a pet bat?" Mitch asks, confused.

"I caught him last night." Merome says proudly. I smile and so does Mitch.

"We'll need to get him a bat cage, right?" Mitch asks.

"Yup!" Merome exclaims. I fly down and Merome extends her palm. I sit on her palm and use my wing to itch my forehead. "Let's go, Biggums!" Merome smiles and I follow her outside. I stop for a moment at the door. It's daytime.

"Come on, Biggums!" Merome says. I take a deep breath and fly out and the sun feels pleasant on my skin. Wait, so in bat form I can be in the sun?! I wish someone had told me sooner!!
