Mitch's POV

I walk with Merome down the hall. She leads me into her bedroom and I tuck her under the covers. I sit next to her and stroke her silver hair slowly.

"I know, you've woken up this early, but it's time to go back to sleep." I say gently. She nods. I begin rubbing her back.

"Daddy?"

"Yes, Merome?"

"Can you sing me a song?"

"Yes I can." I think and finally remember a song that my mother sang to me when I was little.

"Mommy?"

"Yes, Mitch?"

"Can you sing me the song? The one about the angels?"

"Of course, dear. Sleep, my child, and peace attend you, all through the night."

"Guardian angels I will send you, all through the night." I sang along with my mother.

"Soft the drowsy hours are creeping, hill and dale in slumber sleeping."

"I my loved ones' watch am keeping, all through the night"

"Angels watching, ever around you, all through the night."

"Midnight slumber close surround you, all through the night."

"Soft the drowsy hours are creeping."

"Hill and dale in slumber sleeping."

"I my loved ones' watch am keeping."

"All through the night." I smiled, memories drifting into my mind.

I looked down and saw Merome sleeping and smiled again. I tucked the covers in again and kissed Merome's forehead. "Goodnight, Merome." I whispered. I stood up slowly and walked out her bedroom door, closing it behind me. I walk back into the living room, smiling, and sit back down in a chair.

"How did it go?" Ty asks, his cat ears twitching a bit.

"It went well." I say. "Okay. How are we going to get Jerome back?"

(TIME SKIP AND THEN)Jerome's POV

I wake up to the sound of clinking. I look and see someone in my room.

"What the fuck!" I yell at him. "Get out of my room!" They quickly scurry away. Looks like someone did break in. So much for jokes. I look out the window and the sun is starting to set. I need to go to the blood bank when the sun sets. I slightly open the curtains so the light shines on the floor and sit just out of the sunlight, and wait.

~Ten minutes later~

I smile. Night time. I grab my keys and walk to the door, closing it behind me. I walk out as several people walk in.

Shit. I forgot I still need a car.

Meh. I'll just turn into a bat.

I quickly went to a corner where I was sure no one would see me and began transforming. I was surrounded by several colored swirls, all dancing in a circle around me. I could feel my bones begin to break and bend, my arms growing wings and my legs becoming shorter. My body had become light-weight, and I looked to my right and left.

I could see two wings. I extend them and jump, gliding low to the ground. I flap my wings a couple times and get higher. I could feel the adrenaline rushing through me. I smiled. I forgot how much fun it was to be a bat. I flew past the trees and flew right. I glided towards a lamp then sharply turned left, missing it by a few centimeters. I laughed. Flapping my wings some more, I went higher and higher. I flew past an airplane that was getting ready to land. I darted down and made a spiral as I headed for the water. I glided right next to the water and let the tips of my wings skim the water. Remembering the blood bank, I glide towards the downtown district.

I land by the back entrance to the blood bank and transform back into myself. I smile. I haven't been to the hospital in a while. I do the secret knock on the door and I see a boy open it.

"Jason!" I say and smile. He smiles back and we hug. "I didn't know you worked at the hospital."

"Yeah, but only for the blood distribution." He says.

"So, you know-"

"I'm guessing you're a vampire." He cuts me off. I nod. He steps aside and I walk down the hall to the distribution room. Jason hands me a bag of blood and I immediately drain it. I lick my lips and thank Jason.

"No problem!" He smiles.

"How do you even get people to donate blood?" I ask.

"Well, people come to donate blood because they think it will be used to give blood to someone who needs it. Which, technically, is true. We're giving it to vampires that need it." Jason and I laugh for a moment then stop.

"Well, it was nice seeing you again." I say. "I'll be back tomorrow night!" I turn around and begin walking down the hallway.

"Jerome?" Jason asks.

"Yeah?"

"Can I see when you turn in to a bat? I've never seen it before."

"Sure." I laugh. We walk down the hall and out the door. I make sure the coast is clear and transform.

"Wow." Jason says. I laugh a little bat laugh. "See you later, Jerome!" I wave with my wing and begin soaring back to the hotel.
