By the time I woke up it was only Dan and I left in the van, we had been parked in a gas station, the others had went inside to use the washroom and to get food and drinks for everyone.
Zach came back with a bag pretty much full of Pipeline Punch Monster for the both of us, Maxx had a huge bottle of water and cookies, along with chips for everyone. Cody had bought gum and me a pack of smokes knowing I didn't have any left.
"Need to use the washroom before we leave, Scar?" Zach asked, setting the bag of monster in between where my feet were and where his head would be.
"Yeah," I laughed, climbing out of the van and running to the side of the building, using the washroom before running back.
Maxx had thrown his blanket over both of our spots. What a gentleman.
God, why can't I get him out of my head. For once I haven't thought of Austin, but I was thinking an awful amount about Maxx.
Maxx smirked at me as I climbed back to my spot; he's never done it like that before.
"What are you looking at fish brain?" I laughed, hitting his shoulder light before climbing under all my blankets again laying facing the ceiling just listening to my music.
Our van was freezing, not to mention it was late fall, and I don't do well with colder weather. I couldn't exactly hear what the others were talking about, but I didn't care, I just wanted to zone out and just be for awhile.
Hours and hours went by, Zach and Cody have switched spots, Cody could now rest while Zach took the liberty of driving.
Maxx just sat there playing games on his phone the whole time, occasionally looking over at me or talking to Dan. Eventually I sat up and dug a can of monster from the bag at my feet, opening it up and slowly sipping it being careful not to spill it everywhere.
"Where even are we?" I asked with a yawn.
"were headed to the border of California and Oregon." Zach responded scratching his head before putting it back on the wheel.
"Oh okay." I sighed, leaning against the drivers seat. Dan and Cody had fallen asleep which just left me and Maxx to talk, Zach would yell at us if we talked to him while he was driving.
"You know you deserve way better than that asshole Austin." Maxx whispered to me, he was now laid out on his stomach.
"And who's someone better than him?" I asked jokingly not really expecting a serious answer.
"Me." He smirked devilishly at me and rested his hand in my thigh, not moving two or sitting two low, it was just in the right spot for my liking.
"And what's that supposed to mean?" I asked shyly, I pulled my hood over my head to help myself warm up.
"You should be with me instead of thinking about all the shit he did too you." He muttered.
"You have to be joking. You can't actually mean it." I laughed nervously.
"Oh, but I mean it." He smirked again. That fucking same devilish smirk from earlier.
"Maxx, I- I don't know what to think. You can't actually mean it, can you?" I didn't think someone who was actually better than Austin could like me. My long list of ex's are filled with cheaters and heartbreakers, I've never had a good one before.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by Maxx's warm soft lips connecting with mine. I froze for a second, eventually melting into him like he was the only thing in the whole world. Our hands and fingers interlocked as our mouths moved together sweetly. I could get used to this.
Our connection broke by my realization that my big brother was asleep at my feet. "We can't let Cody know, not yet. We can tell him eventually, but not now." I sighed, our hands never detached.
"Anyway, you've been awake longer than I have, you should probably sleep for a bit." I smiled; genuinely. I lightly brushed his hair away from his eyes with my free hand, he brought it up to his lips, kissing the top of my hand, letting go to let me do what I wanted to do, my can of monster jammed between my thigh and the cold metal wall of the van.
"Scarlett could you wake Dan? It's his turn for his shift." I just nodded and tapped Dan's shoulder. He just shoved me off so I did it once more, waking him up finally.
"Dan it's your shift." He groaned in protest. Sitting up while Zach pulled the van over. The boys switched spots, Zach immediately fell asleep, Dan picking up from where we left off and started driving again.
Maxx soundly slept next to me, his hand still in mine. I finished the rest of my monster and layer down, my eyes tracing the lines of his face as he slept.
I kissed his forehead and cuddles up closer to him for warmth as I fell asleep. Waking up to the sounds of music and whispers between my brother and Zach. Maxx was already awake, he had opened the box of cookies and started to eat them, Dan was still driving."Scar it's your shift." Cody smiled, letting me wake up a bit.
"Just let me have a monster and wake up a bit." I sighed taking another can of pipeline and chugging it down as Dan pulled the van over. Cody had moved into my spot so Zach and Dan could have their spots back, I made my way back up to the front, Maxx did as well, he gave pistol some water and food before I started driving off.
By the time my driving shift was over it had started getting dark, Dan and Zach were eating while Cody was having a nap again I might add.
"Want me to take over? You look super tired." Maxx asked I nodded pulling the van over one last time. There wasn't much left to go, Maxx drove the rest of the way. I took Maxx's spot, I was curled up in his blanket as I slept.
By the time I woke up we were at our new place. The place was already fuller furnished.
"God I can't wait to sleep in a comfortable bed!" Cody yawned, everyone collected their things from inside the van and brought them inside. Ash had bought her stuff in and unpacked by the time we got there.
"Ash!" I smiled hugging her. "Sorry I look like a mess." I laughed, she smiled back at me.
"Let's get your things unpacked!" She laughed, helping Cody and I bring our stuff inside, Zach, Maxx, and Dan had to bring in their own things.
"It's good to be home." I sighed just now finally missing our old home.
