(I gave up during this chapter, I wrote most of it high and drunk bc why not.)
Bang. Bang. Bang.
Who the fuck could that be?
"I'll get it." Cody sighed sadly. Walking in the direction of the door we heard another loud bang from the opposite side of the door.
"Hel-" he stopped dead in his tracks. I got up, shoving a back up pistol in the back of my pants. I wasn't going to go other there without something on me when Cody's face looks like he just died.
"Mom? You're here early." Cody smiled synthetically.
"Come here baby!" She smiled, wrapping her arms around Cody warmly.
"Scarlett!" She smiled and rushed over.
"Mom, I told you I don't do hugs." Cody just looked at me like I did something wrong. Bullshit Cody and you know it. I glared back at him.
"Did you meet the guys last time?" Cody asked, wrapping an arm around our mother.
"I don't think I did." She beamed. I ran upstairs into Maxx's room.
"My mom is here, don't mention us dating or anything, I know Zach and Dan won't." I was out of breath, my hands on my chest. He just nodded, I guess he wasn't talking.
"Scar, bring the guys down here!" Cody called from the kitchen downstairs.
"I don't want to be around her." I mumbled, I folded my arms across my chest as I rounded up everyone and brought them downstairs.
"Nice to meet you Mrs. Carson." Dan smiled, holding out a hand for her to shake. She took it with a faux smile and continued on with why she was here.
"Mom, this is Dan, that's Zach, and That's Maxx." Cody pointed to everyone in the room. I pulled my buzzing phone from my pocket, I was being called.
"Hello?" I asked, plugging my other ear so I could focus on the other person.
"We know you're past. Every horrible thing you did. All those people you killed. You're going to pay for that." The voice on the other side of the call was distorted. My eyes widened looking over to Cody. This couldn't be the wrong time. This came out of absolutely nowhere.
"Maxx, could I ask you something. privately?" He nodded and made his way into his room.
"What's going on with you?" I sighed, getting comfortable on his bed next to Pistol.
"You haven't been talking to me." I sat there waiting for a response, I never got one.
"Maxx-" he cut me off.
"How could you guys keep all that shit a secret?" He spat.
"Do you think I had a choice? I didn't want to make you guys liabilities. I got a call. I haven't told Cody, but someone's onto us which means new names, new looks, new place. Now that you're apart of this that goes for you too." I rushed out in a hush.
"We never should have said anything. I need to talk to Cody." I held my head down low.
"Scar-"
"No Maxx, you're already mad and I'm upset that you thought I had a choice in what happened." I shook my head and left the room. I don't think I'll be able to face him for the next few days. Or ever.
"Scarlett, Mom and I are going out, Dan and Zach are coming with, wanna come?" Cody asked opening the front door.
"No, I'll stay home with Ash and Maxx." I didn't even want to say his name, his bedroom door was still open.
"See you in an hour or two!" Dan responded, watching me cross my arms over my chest and walk into my room, slamming the door behind me.
"God I'm fucking tired of all this."
I whipped open my closet door and grabbed a pair of sweatpants, taking off my jeans and slipping into the pants I had just grabbed. Not like I was going out anywhere or like I need to impress anyone. Fuck I needed to call Cody.
"Hey Cody? Do you mind picking me up some black hair dye?" I asked as he picked of the phone.
"Sure. Anything else?" He was annoyed I called him, I guess I'm on everyone's nerves today.
"No that's it. Thanks C." The call ended quickly, I swear no one in this house wants to talk to me. I need to alter my looks in some way, make me look a little less noticeable.
My eyes shot towards the door, heard a knock coming from the other side.
"What do you want." I sighed, rummaging through my closet taking out every article of clothing.
"I wanted to apologize. I over reacted." Maxx sighed, stepping into the room he shut the door behind him.
"No need to apologize if you don't mean it. Now I have to go through all my clothes and get rid of most of them." If I was to leave Cody wouldn't come with me, I know that. I just don't know to tell him I'm leaving.
"I can't be seen around here anymore anyway." I couldn't leave tonight, but who cares.
"You're not leaving. Not without me." He can't take a hint.
"It probably was just a prank call!"
"It was the same voice from last time! The exact same fucking voice. Last time I didn't run Cody and I were nearly killed. Hell, I went on a fucking crime spree during the time we were on the run. I'm leaving tomorrow after I tell Cody."
