{~~Chapter 7~~}
Gia has woken up the same way she has been for the past two weeks. Screaming. Alek had woken her from her nightmares and she couldn't help but to wrap her arms around him. His warmth and soft whispering had dragged her out of the dreams and comforted her. Alexander, Claire, and Verlac were the only ones who would wake her up from her nightmares. They'd all comfort her, tell her it's going to be alright, but she knew it wasn't.
Gia threw a throwing knife at a target, hitting the bulls eye. She's been making remarkable progress in training and knowledge. Alek pushed off the wall and walked over with his arms crossed over his chest. "You are making better progress than I did in the first year of being in the elite group in San Francisco. That," he said, "is something to be proud of." Gia smiled and shook her head, looking down at her slender and lightly calloused hands. "It's nothing, really," She shrugged. "Its just luck." Alek snorted. "If it was luck, you would've hit the bulls eye in the first hour of a complete training day." She put her hands in her pockets and looked up at his emerald green eyes. She didn't say anything, just looked. She did that so often, to get a clearer image. She had tried over and over to draw Alexander, but it never turned out right.
She had even wondered if her drawing skills were going, but drew the garden perfectly and knew it wasn't that. Nobody has found out about her drawing talents, but somebody will soon. Alek was looking at her with something unrecognizable. For the past week, Gia noticed, Alek would look at her like that. She's never seen anybody look at anybody in that way. Gia ignored it and grabbed a black bladed daemon blade off the wall and handed a clear bladed one to Alek. She lunged instantly, quick and skillfully. The blades clanged together and sparks flew from demonic metal hitting demonic metal. Gia ducked and dodged, swinging the blade ferociously.
Alek was still more skilled than her, but she did give him a challenge. A sly grin had grown on his face and he picked up the pace which Gia evenly matched. He swung at her and she ducked, spinning and stood behind him with the blade point facing in between his shoulder blades. He froze and Gia smiled, breathing heavily. She wondered when she wouldn't get as winded. Alek was still breathing evenly, as if that didn't affect him in any way. Gia had lowered the blade and gasped when Alek spun around, as fast as lightening, maybe faster. He kicked the blade out of her hand and pinned her against the wall, his arm over her throat gently and his hard body pressed against her fragile and small one. Their faces were centimeters away and their breaths mingled. His eyes sparked and flicked down to her parted lips. Gia swallowed and her eyes flicked down to his soft lips. He slowly took his arm off her throat and rested his hand on her hip. He leaned in and she closed her eyes.
"Whoa, what did I just walk in on," they ripped apart and Cali had her back facing them. Alek sighed and ran his hands through his blonde hair. "Nothing, we were just training." He didn't look at her and walked out of the room. His sister reached a hand out to him, but he was already gone. Gia leaned against the wall, her legs still felt like water. Cali narrowed her dark blue eyes at her. "What did you do?" She asked and Gia's eyebrows knit together in puzzlement. "What do you mean 'What did I do?'" Cali shook her head and grabbed a gold bladed sword off the wall. "Alexander has never looked at anybody the way he looks at you. He has never acted the way he does around you." She laughed humorlessly. "He hasn't even dated anybody before. He's always been focused on training and killing pure demons, nothing else." Gia blinked. Was there really that much of a difference in him?
Gia shook her head. "I think you misunderstand. He's not interested in me." She said and pushed past Cali. She slowly closed the door behind her and sighed, walking down the long corridor. She has memorized where every turn led to and what door led to what room. She looked up and a door slammed into her. Gia shook her head and staggered back, holding her nose. "Are you okay? I didn't see you." Alek asked worriedly and she looked up at him, her broken nose already healed. She nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. I wasn't paying attention." He sighed and Gia took her hand away from her nose, gold blood on her hand. Alek put a hand on her shoulder and led her into his room. "Lets get that cleaned up." He said gently and brought her into the bathroom in his room, sitting her on the sink.
