{~~Chapter 13~~}
Gia's eyes flew open and she saw that it was dark outside. Alek was still asleep and she reached onto his nightstand and checked the time on his phone. It was only two in the morning. She laid her head on his chest, his heart beating steadily and chest rising and falling gently. She traced his marks with her finger, the swirling black designs were so familiar to her. She stopped when she saw a small star-shaped scar on his stomach where he was wounded yesterday. She ran her fingers over it and she could feel a light energy radiating off of it. "What're you doing awake? Did you have nightmares?" She looked up and saw that Alek was awake and watching her with sleep-filled emerald eyes. Gia shook her head, resting her hand on his hard abs. "No, I don't remember what I dreamed about. I just woke up, all of a sudden." She said and Alek hummed in response. They sat in a comfortable silence and Gia thought Alek had fallen back asleep, but he opened his eyes again. "I actually slept. Maybe we should do this more often." He said and she laughed softly. "Are you saying you need me?" She teased and he chuckled. "Oh, Gia, I need you in more ways than just for getting sleep." He murmured and she felt her cheeks redden slightly. "Are we having a heart-to-heart moment?" She asked and he shrugged, a lazy smirk growing on his angelic face. "I don't know. I didn't think hearts could talk." He said and she laughed.
Gia ran her fingers over his hard stomach and his grip on her waist tightened slightly. "I have to tell you something," he said and sat up. Her eyebrows scrunched together in puzzlement. He ran his hands through his blonde hair. "A few weeks ago when you found out about all this, I went into your room and you were sleeping. Eric showed up and had a blade of his own, a new blade. He said it was the first of its kind." Gia stared at him with wide eyes and a gaping mouth. Alek didn't look at her. "I felt a dark, heavy aura radiating off of it and last night, he had it on him." Gia blinked and sat up next to him, putting a hand on his bicep. "He had the blade on him?" He shook his head. "No, I felt the aura radiating off of him. He had dark magic all over him." Gia shook her head in disbelief. "That's not possible," she insisted. Alek smiled and looked at her. "Everybody thought that an demon angel hybrid wasn't possible, but you're sitting right here." He said and she stood up. "If Eric and Agramon found a way to use dark magic in ways that have nobody knows about, then we won't have anything to use against them." She said, pacing and running her hands through her dark hair.
Alek smirked and laid back against the headboard. "That is where you're wrong. We do have something to use against them." He said and Gia sighed, sitting on the bed beside him. She was oblivious to the fact that she didn't have a shirt on. "What do we have?" She asked and he put a hand on her back. "We have you. I'm sure you have more than just one ability and your fighting skills are close to being better than mine." He said and she put her head in her hands. Tears welled up in her eyes and she closed them, a tear trickling down her cheek. Alek put his arms around her waist and pulled her in between his legs. She laid back against him and he wiped her tears away. "It's going to be okay, Gia. I promise," he mumbled softly and buried his face in the crook of her neck. Gia shook her head. "I can't do this, Alek. Sandra and Ryan are still missing and I'm the target of a big time demon." She said and he kissed her neck. "I know it's a lot, but I'm here for you if you need somebody to help you." He said and she sighed contentedly as his warm mouth pressed against her neck, collarbone, and jaw.
He took her earlobe into his mouth and a soft moan slipped past her lips. "I think you scared Eric to the point where he lost his boner." Alek mumbled and she chuckled. "He did not have a boner," she said and he snorted. "Trust my word, angel. I'm a guy and I know when other guys have one." He said and she rested her head back on his shoulder, looking up at him. "You can't get a boner from looking at me," she said and he raised his eyebrows at her, a corner of his mouth curling upwards. "I disagree entirely," he said and she looked down. "I'm not the sexiest girl in the whole area. You have more options, what about that other girl you like?" She asked and he sighed, putting a hand on her cheek. "First, promise me you won't flip out." She raised an eyebrow at him. "Okay, I promise. What-?" She was cut off when his lips pressed against hers. She melted into his touch and kissed him back. He left a lingering kiss on her lips before reluctantly pulling away. "Gia, the girl I like...is you. I know I shouldn't, but ever since I first saw you standing in the shadows alone I haven't been able to stop thinking about you, or worrying about you."
